So all denials, acceptances, and wait-lists are supposed to be done by the end of the month?

And every single applicant on LSN with a 3.7+/164 reported merit-aid at UF this year. The 3.6/164 dude probably got aid too, but he hasnt reported any scholarships at all. 3.6/3.7 might've been the cut-off for merit-awards at the 164 level though, none of the 3.5's reported anything.

Just want to add that I got mad skrilla with a <3.0 gpa which indicates they use a holistic review process and any discussion of an index is foolishness.

Its obvious to me now that LSAT is a much, much more important stat than GPA. I have a 3.4/166 and received a generous award.

Are you allowed to park your car at the law school overnight if you are going to ASD on Friday?

Yeah. Just make sure you have a parking pass for Friday from the Student Affairs office.

When I go visit Gainesville, which apartment complexes should I look at? I'm willing to sacrifice location for high quality.

Not necessarily. I got in with a 3.88/158 and I also got a scholarship.

95% chance that you are a URM and/or OOS.

Do you have any work experience/awesome softs/special circumstances/URM/OOS? That's pretty unusual from I've seen.

Are you URM?
Also UF seems to prefer OOS for scholarships, because the tuition difference. I feel like UF thinks its so superior to FSU that they don't offer us Florida people scholarships as generously, because we are already getting a "good deal" at 18k+.

I'm a minority but not one that is considered URM. I'm in-state, went to FSU for undergrad. I took a year off but I'm not doing anything I would consider extraordinary.

I just got my financial aid info updated online. As of now, it says my total COA will be about 37k, up from last years 34k, to put it in perspective.

Not to throw them under the bus, but Geaux12 and IAS seemed to share my sentiments. Sorry if I sounded like a dick, but I don't think it's outrageous or offensive to point out that 3.9/158 aren't generally considered merit-aid numbers for this cycle. Considering none of the 3.8+/163s on LSN have merit-aid offers.

The minority/URM distinction is a strange one that we've seen in this thread before. I don't think there is much a distinction when it comes to UF scholarships TBH. An applicant earlier (non URM minority) with a 3.8/162 got merit-aid when plenty of people with higher numbers were passed over.

Other than Jews, who are obviously an over represented minority in the legal world, what other kinds of minorities are not under representated? Also, is there an official designation or list somewhere?

Again, i'm not offended. I've been following this thread for a while and have seen your blunt style, it doesn't bother me. Doesn't take away from the fact that I got the scholarship. To be honest with you, I didn't even think I was going to get in let alone get a scholarship, I was NDR since January! Maybe I had awesome softs, good recs or whatever but I have no idea as I have nothing to compare it to and none of us know what the admissions officers are thinking.

I find seancris' know it all/assuming style to be offensive. Dude needs to chill. That shit would piss me off I were a URM. "you got a scholly, I didnt?! U must be black"! What if he was black and happened to also have written a better PS than you?

I don't really think of myself as blunt. Probably projecting myself in a poor manner then. TLS rubs off on you after a while.

Congrats on the scholarship. Think you'll attend?

& @laxbrah, again, it's not like I was the only one that assumed that. It's the logical conclusion, when you look at the numbers and assume that there's some rhyme or reason to the scholarship process. The reasoning takes for granted the fact that only three factors are relevant to law school admissions/scholarships (GPA, LSAT, URM status/diversity).

With the above assumptions, it is only logical to assume that a report of a 3.88/158 getting a scholarship offer over the heads of 4.0/163 students had an advantage in the third category.

Could've been his/her PS, could've been their softs, but that would go contrary to TLS common wisdom and even contrary to what the poster said when they referred to their own softs as "unremarkable" or something along those lines.

LOL! I'm white and I'm also a girl. But yes, I did get the vibe that seancris doesn't believe me and/or thought I wasn't as deserving of the scholarship because my LSAT score is lower than his.

If all goes well at ASD, yes. It certainly made the decision a lot easier.
I didn't say my softs were "unremarkable" I said I don't know if they are compared to someone elses. Someone else referenced my work experience, thats what I meant was not extraordinary. I work at a law firm, isn't that most people that want to go to law school and take a year off do?
