I'd consider a retake, but UF is a decent option.

Hey guys, does anyone know how UF handles people placing seat deposits, and retaking the LSAT, while holding their spots for admission? I know that some schools are understanding about this, but others frown upon it. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

I'm going to give you the benefit of doubt here and assume you're joking. Besides, we've discussed several times ITT that we don't know what the index numbers mean yet this year because the formula changed, therefore not having anything to compare it to.

Not joking, didn't read the whole thread, but indeed confirming that the index provided ITT is incorrect.

Edit to add: That would be the worst joke in the world. I'd rather you assume I'm retarded than not funny. The index is certain not right though, so I'm also confident I'm not retarded.

Again, we don't know what number index gets you in since the formula changed this year, the new formula is provided on page 1.

You obviously don't know what the index is. First, it's just a formula schools use to weigh the LSAT and GPA the way they want and compare and rank applicants. Second, there is no way for it to be wrong, the school decides who gets in, anything written here about admits and rejects based on the index is pure speculation.

When I refer to "the" index, I'm referring to the one that was posted earlier in this thread. That one specified a formula and a threshold for being admitted. I was below that threshold, and I was admitted. Therefore, that index/speculation/whatever is wrong.

wtf is the point of adding an error term to a formula with arbitrary guidelines for interpretation?

Accepted via snail mail.

Also, I received a separate post card from the admissions office congratulating me on my scholly? My packet didn't include any mention of a scholarship. Anybody know if I can verify this info online somewhere? Am I suppose to receive something else via post? Don't want to wait till the admissions office opens tomorrow. :D

Email Ms. Huber and ask about the amount of your scholarship. She will probably get back to you by 9AM.

Having read 3 years worth of UF admissions threads, UF admissions more or less boils down to this: Above both medians = auto-admit. Median LSAT and decent GPA is admit. 160/3.5 gets you a 75% chance of admission. Less than a 160 is meh. Less than 158 is probably a death sentence barring URM status. As long as you have a 3.0+, GPA is totally irrelevant with an above median LSAT.

For scholarships: 164+ and a 3.5 = $$$. 163 or lower = no money with pretty rare exceptions.

And UF prospectives should account for tuition increases. Students 6 years ago were paying like 8k/yr in tuition.

Thats about it.

Wrong. 164 3.6 here. No money. I've said that before though.

The "more or less" part was meant to indicate that I was speaking in generalities about both admissions and scholarships.

And every single applicant on LSN with a 3.7+/164 reported merit-aid at UF this year. The 3.6/164 dude probably got aid too, but he hasnt reported any scholarships at all. 3.6/3.7 might've been the cut-off for merit-awards at the 164 level though, none of the 3.5's reported anything.

Yeah, I think the standards for aid this year are lower than they were last year. That, and I was just shafted.

Did you consider retaking at all when you didn't get a scholarship?

Hey LSATmakesmeneurotic or other current law students at UF, how is the parking around the law school? Bad enough to be worth the extra cost of living within walking distance? or easy enough to find parking that I could live at a cheaper place, commute and find parking in under 5 minutes?

thanks
