Have you figured out your index?gatorlaw wrote:I go to UF undegrad and I'm starting to get antsy! I already heard back from all the other Florida schools...I hope my "no decision reached" changes soon.
Congrats to those who have gotten in already!

Using the index someone posted on a previous page, it's a 5.8

Did you use the one I posted? Because I incorrectly posted last year's index formula. Look back a few pages and you'll find the correct index.gatorlaw wrote:Using the index someone posted on a previous page, it's a 5.8

My index based on the most recently posted formula is a 5.81 and I've been File reviewed- no decision reached since before Thanksgiving :/

5.8. I doubt the entire admissions process is reduced to this formula though...or at least I hope not...

Seems like the only people who have gotten in so far were above both of last year's entering medians.

Yep. And looking at acceptances from TLS and LSN, all that have been accepted have an index of 5.8+.seancris wrote:Seems like the only people who have gotten in so far were above both of last year's entering medians.
Looks like classes ended last week, the reading days start this week, and exams conclude the end of next week. So, if we don't hear anything by 16th, we probably won't until at least the second week in January.

Had my first one yesterday. Mainly multiple choice with a few short answers. Talked about it with a friend afterwards. It was worse than trying to dissect the LSAT.seancris wrote: How's that going, so far?

I was under the impression that law school exams were almost entirely long essay format based on hypos. Do you mind sharing which class that exam was?LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:Had my first one yesterday. Mainly multiple choice with a few short answers. Talked about it with a friend afterwards. And how would you recommend prepping for the exams in hindsight? IE if you could redo the semester or 0L prep?

Do practice problems. Don't sweat minutia of cases. Use TLS guides, know the black letter law cold, and most importantly, learn to think like a lawyer. This will all make more sense next year.

Re: U. of Florida c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Our crim class was different from the others in that he uses a multiple choice format. I wouldn't say that it was as necessary to "think like a lawyer" for this exam as it will be for the others. In re-doing the semester, I probably would have made charts (listing each offense) sooner, but it really is all dependent on what the professor wants, especially this one. Like FTH said, know black letter law cold.FeelTheHeat wrote:Crim.seancris wrote:I was under the impression that law school exams were almost entirely long essay format based on hypos. I would give it an acceptance barring any character issues.

For what it's worth it seems that UF puts everyone to No Decision Reached and then sends out a bunch of letters at once. I expect/hope they will send out another batch this week or next and then your status should change. I'm sure they are just waiting till they have a bunch of letters to send.

I got a scholarship award in the mail today! I was accepted around Thanksgiving and I am in Gainesville, so they probably sent them out a day or two ago.

Added: if anyone has a clue as to what the curve at UF is, or how hard it is to maintain a 2.8, that info would be very much appreciated

No it didn't. I also got a letter and a booklet in the mail yesterday, and my status updated with that, but nothing about the scholarship letter.ralph_pootawn wrote:Did your status checker update with the new mailing or anything?beezy08 wrote:167/3.5, 9K per year renewable with a 2.8skirkland wrote:mind sharing your numbers and award amount/stipulations?
