Hehehehehe. Thanks for your consideration over withdrawal. You, too, sdphill.

With any luck I'll benefit from your benevolence. :P

Whoa. I went complete in early March.

Hmmm. Maybe you'll get something this week. The chart a few pages back shows that pretty much everyone will get something within the next two weeks.

Unfortunately, I would assume that. It is extremely unlikely that you will get off the waitlist if you are not a minority. Some schools waitlist WAY too many people (I am not exactly sure why), but you will have to check prior lawschoolnumbers data to assess this.

I'm in a similar boat. Numbers are a little higher but no family connection. I'm going to ride the list for as long as possible, but going to go ahead and plan on going TT with $$$. If I haven't gotten an apartment there and get in, I will strongly consider WUSTL, but if its later I'll just be happy to say I was accepted.

However, I totally anticipate not getting in, and was just glad to not get dinged.

Yeah, I feel the same way. It sucks because they aren't doing me any favors if that's the case, because I'm forced to wait considering my only other choices are TTs. I checked LSN and it seems to back this train of thought up re getting in iff I was a URM with these numbers, but then again I don't know how seriously they would consider a double-legacy or not. It's annoying because I'm two different waitlists that would trump my default school of choice and can't move until I know for sure where I am going. Hopefully they don't let me linger on the list. Is there such a thing as rejecting people off the waitlist or do they just let these things sort themselves out (i.e. make us wait until we start at another school)?
You have nothing to lose by sticking it out on the waitlist so I would do so. Your chances look extremely bleak given that you don't seem to be claiming URM but you never know. If you really want to go there, this would be a great time to have your parents attempt to call in favors if they know anyone at the law school.

Does anyone know if the number of people taken off the waitlist is split between non-URMs and URMs? Or does WUST typically take URMs off the waitlist over non-URMs? Trying to gauge my odds.

Here's the LSN list of waitlisted applicants last year, including the few that were accepted at the bottom. Of those who reported getting in off the WL to LSN, none were URMs. If they use it like last year, they'll probably be looking for applicants with higher GPAs.

Yeah... most schools almost solely take people off of the waitlist to remedy a GPA or LSAT median (due to people withdrawing). I would suspect that URM's are some of their first decisions, so they can make decisions with those numbers factored in with the rest of their applicant pool as they continue in the cycle. What I was saying earlier is that the likelihood of a 3.1/158 or something is very unlikely, especially if not a minority.

Am I completely missing somewhere to pay the deposit online? I feel like they can't be relying on snail mail for this...

If you go to the admitted students bulletin, you go to deposit information and then have to select, "Yes I am taking your offer of acceptance" or however it is phrased.

Oh. I guess I was hesitant to click the button saying I was definitely attending in the fall since I'm still considering other options, at least while the deposit is still refundable.

I got wait-listed at WUSTL on Friday with a 161 and 3.69, does anyone think I have a shot of getting in off the wait-list? Strategies for getting off?

If WUSTL is your top choice, definitely would deposit immediately, etc., you should tell them so via a LOCI and if you can, go visit the school. Be as specific as possible about why you want to go there.

Chances, from like 4 posts ago:

General advice for trying to get off the WL is to stay in contact. Write a LOCI with new information, visit if possible, etc.

pardon my ignorance, but could you define a LOCI? and a deposit? don't you have to be accepted to put in a deposit?

cheers and thanks for the help!

Search the forums for tips on writing letters of continued interest (usually includes: thank you for the opportunity to be on the waitlist... here is what I have been doing since... here is why the school fits me so well... provided that, I would love to attend your school as X are my first choice and I would unhesitatingly attend if given the opportunity to join your class of 2015, etc.). Only say the top choice thing if true though. Don't say the thing about I will deposit immediately, but that is what they want to hear in so many words.

LOCI = Letter of Continuing Interest. You can find numerous threads and articles on TLS about this.

Also, I think josh43299 was saying that if you would deposit immediately should they let you in off the WL, you should tell them that in the aforementioned LOCI.

You all should just withdraw from the wait list.... I'm the only one making it through alive!!!

Really, they should put all the WL people in a "Thunderdome" type, well, dome, and have us fight it out barbarian wasteland style! I will wreck each and every one of you! Oh, yeah...I'm bad.

But seriously guys..... you should just drop out from the WL at Wash U. Why put yourselves through all the tension? The agony of the unknown?

Ok, I'm just kidding!
