I did a really poor job of saving receipts so this could be interesting. It's a max of $200 right? So I'm hoping that my $175 or w/e for 2 nights hotel plus just giving them the mileage I drove will suffice for proof that I spent more than 200.
I think it says "one night hotel accommodations" but maybe not.

Where on their site does it say anything about it? I only know about it from TLS.
From my travel stipend email:

*Reimbursement expenses may include: airfare, one-night hotel stay, gas (if you are driving to visit us), and/or car rental expenses. Mileage, meals, other sundries or any travel fees for visitors joining you on the trip are not reimbursable.

In order to be reimbursed for your travel expenses through the travel stipend program, you must do the following:

Pick up a travel expense reimbursement form from the Admissions Office when you visit.

Complete the form, attaching original receipt(s) and/or email confirmation(s) with proof of payment on the day of your visit OR return the completed form and original receipt(s) or email confirmation(s) to the Admissions Office via mail or email within 2 weeks of your on-campus visit.

It seems as though they are sending it out if you email and indicate that you forgot to grab one while there.

Wow, that is random!! Well I got bumped from my flight and didn't make it. I'll tell them to give you my reimbursement eligibility

Though, I'm thinking about using the flight voucher I got to visit on a different day. I can't make the March ASD because its the same day as the Texas ASD.

Did you not come from far away? I'd imagine if you only drove an hour or two to get there they might not feel the need to reimburse.

Did you hear about the reimbursement beforehand from them? I'm really confused about this, as I only knew about it from TLS, but it doesn't make sense because I came from the east coast. I spent about $250 on flights and $200 on hotel stay (although apparently only half of that is covered but still). I also spent another $50 on gas driving to the airport since it would have been $400 to fly out of my local airport.

"Unfortunately due to our budget constraints we were not able to offer
every admitted student a travel stipend to visit the law school. All
eligible admitted applicants were emailed separately, before admitted
students day, about receiving the stipend. We do not have record that
you were offered a stipend but if you have the email where it was
offered, please email it to our office. We understand that many admitted
students discuss things such as admitted students days and the stipend
on top law schools or amongst themselves but that does not mean that it
was made available to everyone this year."

Yes, I received an email on January 4, 2012 inviting me to one of the admitted student days and offering me a reimbursement of $200 if I visited on one of those days.

Similar numbers, updated today from 10/6. I think they're starting to look at more modest splitters.
I updated today from sometime earlier in the month...this is my third update...

I would agree with you that I don't understand why, if you truly are not eligible, why they can't just provide a specific reason as to why you weren't chosen to receive a stipend.

Maybe they have a budget and they just ran out. I have similar numbers to you, and received the same scholarship, but I was offered the reimbursement, I also applied really early. But yeah that sucks man.

I never even saw the email but apparently I got it on January 4th.

There is a line on the form for mileage so I'm going to try and pull that off and see if it works without a receipt. Either way I have one night of a hotel stay and a receipt for one meal so that's better than nothing.

Sorry about that Hoos89 it makes you wonder what their criteria is since we hadn't even received scholarship offers by then so it doesn't seem logical for it to be based on how much you were offered. Were you admitted before January 4th?

I'm really surprised they wouldn't reimburse everyone. They were offering the forms in person, I believe, it just seemed like most people missed picking one up.

Before I went to the January ASW I sent an email asking if there would be a travel reimbursement because I was traveling from Chicago. They sent me a response back basically saying if I was eligible for the travel stipend then they would have sent me an email informing me of my eligibility.

Basically the only difference for me was I took a train instead of flying because I am from STL so I just stayed with friends while I was in town.

I get your frustration; that sucks that you traveled so far and paid for everything. However, this seems like something that should have been worked out with their office before booking your flight and everything, not just by relying on TLS info…
