What's the diff between preferred and general?

At the very least, it does look like the interview is a way to put you over the top

Granted, it was from 2-3 years ago, but I think some of the points in that thread are relevant today. Specifically, someone posted this:
This information was distributed directly from Georgetown:

Admissions Decisions for Interviewed Applicants for 2008:
39% put on Preferred Waitlist
37% Admitted
7% Denied
17% General Waitlist
That is not comforting.
Indeed. Not comforting.
Indeed.

I'm guessing they offered an interview because of my double digit difference between my first 2 LSATs and my third one.

Just now had the current status date of my application updated to 11/16, still says "Application Completed." Third time the date has changed. Also updated my mailing address, hmm...

How do you tell if the address has been updated?

I have been using the status checking tool (there's a thread on this forum about it) and it automatically identifies changes on the status checker websites.

Fancy. I downloaded that thing and it had some crisis and shut itself down. Sad.

I had chosen Both (full-time and part-time) on my app, and my status checker changed it to Full-Time when my date changed to the 10th (which was the day after they received my 2nd LOR), then my date changed again on the 14th. Interesting to see them subtly changing these things...

We are almost number/date twins. Do you mean you received the acceptance in the mail on 11/14? Still no word here :(

Same for me, my address updated with the date change on 11/14. Trying not to get my hopes up given my serious numbers split...

by the way, i was contacted by my interviewer over 2 weeks after I got that e-mail inviting me to interview, so don't worry if your interviewer takes some time to get in touch with you.

quick question: the attached document in the e-mail says that it won't affect the date a decision is made, even though decisions operate on a rolling admissions basis. Is this true, or just a way to comfort people like me? Anyway, I'm just really happy to get the invitation

Hopefully I'm not just getting your hopes up, but when this happened last cycle (either from both to FT or both to PT) an acceptance showed up in the mail a week or so later.

ps. I'm a first year at georgetown, feel free to PM me if you guys have questions! It's lovely here :)

You inspired me to check my email, and sure enough, there's an interview request!

I'm wondering if it means anything too. I doubt it means auto-waitlist. I certainly don't think my numbers are auto-waitlist, based on what I've seen in past cycles.

Hi, it looks like a lot of us were updated to 11/16. Submitted 10/1, complete 10/26, Admissons complete 10/31, then a long long wait until 11//16, with an interview request I thought I was a goner, being a high splitter with low 3 gpa, but 175 lsat. Interview probably means that they're giving me a chance to crawl in..... I figure that if I will still a "Weak Consider", then they wouldn't bother updating me or giving me an interview.
However, wonder how the alunnus would help........... anyone got any thoughts? Anyone else agree that interview is a good thing?

An interview is always a good opportunity, regardless of its original cause. That's the way I'd think about it anyway.

Ah, thanks for letting me know! I'll try not to get my hopes up, but I'd love to be getting my first law school acceptance sooner rather than later.

Yes, I received a notice via US mail. It came in a small envelope. No email. Status checker still only reads "Application Completed."

Applied 10/25, went complete on the 26th or 27th. My status changed from Application Complete to Application Complete on the 14th. Maybe (Hopefully) I'll have something before Thanksgiving.

I would check the school's policy. some schools say if the jump is 6 or more points, they'll take the higher score; others, however, like michigan, want an addendum regardless

If you still haven't gotten a status checker, you should email or call them. That's really weird.
e-mailed them the other day, finally got my status checker today... app complete as of 10/11
