I think for some people at least it has to do with how late in the year you applied. Earlier applicants might signify greater interest in Gtown. Later applicants might mean Georgetown=afterthought.
Also, if you have the numbers and go Early Decision, that's a big big advantage. Also, both GW and GULC love DC locals who say they WANT to stay local... so, what you include in the application itself plays into it. I recommend doing a school specific essay for each place you care about. When I later spoke with Admissions Offices (not specifically at Georgetown, but three other schools) they all said that showing you know their school is something they notice... but, it's a waste of time if you're just using information pulled from the websites.

I received a Christmas card today from GULC. I thought it was a nice touch.

DWinter18 wrote:For those who were accepted regular decision, about how long of a time between when you submitted your app and when you got accepted? I submitted just over a month ago, and I had an interview last week and since then, 3 updates on my status check (all "Application Complete"). The wait is seriously killing me, but I still haven't heard from any schools yet, and I applied all at the same time (just over a month ago).
I applied 10/02 (the day after the app was available on LSAC) and got accepted about 3 weeks later 10/22. LSAT 171 gpa 3.5 no interview requests etc. It may be different for others applying later in the cycle.

+1 I liked that they use my preferred name and not my first name, and that it addressed my family as well.

I also got the xmas card yesterday. I agree it's a nice touch especially since they correspond holiday wishes AFTER your acceptance, not before 8)

Just received e-mail - says I've been deferred from ED into the RD process. Anyone know if this means waitlist? The e-mail seems vague.

It's not the same as wait list- it just means you're now with the RD group instead of the ED group. I guess it's like a step above wait list?

I wouldn't worry........ if you look at LSN, plenty with your numbers have already been accepted. They probably want to get a better look at the app pool.

How would we know if there was? I don't even know what my letters said. I guess I had 2 professors, 1 manager, with interview FWIW.

We would not know for sure, but maybe we can decipher a trend if we get more data points (ie, who got interviews and what do we know about their letters, vs. those that were auto accepts, denied, etc...)

Can anyone give me their account of how long it took from interview to decision? I have my interview this Thursday and I'm really impatient :P

Need some advice on whether or not I should write a LOCI. The email they sent me "postponing" my decision says "no additional information is necessary." Does this really mean "please, don't send us anything else," or would writing a LOCI be a good idea? FWIW I already have it written and ready to go. Thanks all.

I haven't had a decision yet but from reading the thread it seems like at least 1-2 weeks between interview and decision.

i got the same email, and i sent a loci and another LOR and fall term grades. not that that means you should or shouldn't do it, i haven't heard back or anything. I just can't imagine that the admissions board, enraged that you sent them additional information, puts you from the deferred to the rejection pile.
