Do you guys think there will be a drop in applicants again, and if so, a drop in medians as well?

What are your numbers?

You should post in the "what are my chances" thread. Conversely, you could do some research on http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com and http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com

Nobody can really quantify your urm boost, they can tell you what your chances are etc. The SEC conference thing is irrelevant.

AA F. 3.63 and taking October LSAT (practice testing at ~160). LSN tells me it's been done before (http://cornell.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1011/). I just don't know what aspects I should highlight about myself that Cornell would like.

oh, and thanks!

You need a real LSAT score. Your actual score may be higher, equal to, or lower than your practice score so assessing your chances on a hypothetical score is largely an exercise in futility. After you get your score, post in the urm thread or "what are my chances thread" and numerous posters will be glad to help you. As far as aspects to highlight, you should write a diversity statement if need be. It's generally in your best interest to write one. Your personal statement is well, personal and you can attach any other addenda as necessary. You do need an actual score first though.

Yeah, you're welcome. You seem kinda antsy so let me help you a bit. According to folklore, AA males get the largest boost, then AA females, NA, Mexican/PR etc. This is pure conjecture though, I would think softs still matter and everyone has a story to tell. In the past, AA females have gotten into Cornell with scores in the high 150's but that shouldn't be your goal. If you can increase your score to 165 and above, you could do better than Cornell. Practice -testing at 160 is not a good place to be at. You want to be testing at a score at which a drop on actual test-day would still be acceptable.

How many people did/are doing the "Why Cornell?" essay? Anyone submitting without it? In either case, what are your numbers?

Looking at the LSN graphs, I feel like I have a pretty strong chance of admission, but I don't want to take it for granted. So confused on what to do. :?

I'm working on one. Don't know my numbers yet as I haven't taken an LSAT. :/ GPA is below the 25% though.

i read the interview with dean geiger, and i got the feeling that a why x essay for cornell isn't too important. he said regarding cornell-tailored personal statements, "A specific connection with our law school is not really what we’re after"

Yeah, I read an interview of his as well and got the feeling that they weren't of utmost importance at Cornell. But then I see that they added the optional section this year called "Why Cornell?" which makes me wonder if that has changed. I mean we all know that "Why?" statements are important at UVA for example, but even UVA doesn't have a section specifically titled "Why UVA?".

I've been surprised to see all of the negative references to Cornell on this site. Does anyone want to weigh in on this? Is this just a TLS snob syndrome type of thing? I understand that it may not be a Harvard or a Yale, but it's still a top 15 school that seems to both incite a lot of interest and carry a name brand label.

Also, can we avoid any tirade about how ridiculous LS applicants are with their concerns about the schools' reputations?

This is a question about the general attitude about the school and its reputation, so if anyone has some constructive input on this, I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks!

For "influenced to apply" and "law school alumni", what are we supposed to put if the answers are... no one?

Hi everyone!

Have any of you been able to get a solicited fee waiver?

What did you guys do for this "influenced to apply"? Does this refer to people who actually suggested it to me (like my advisor for example) or to professors I would want study under at Cornell? Seems like a weird section

My former commander is a Cornell Law grad. He loved it and really encouraged me to apply so that's what I said.

I would so do this, and for other schools also, if I thought they'd have humor about it :(
