Law4889 wrote:First off- congrats on your acceptance! In regard to the ND vs. BU question, rankings aside I have always had the feeling that ND is somewhat superior academically. Obviously it depends upon what you're looking to do, what you're looking to study, but it seems as though ND has spent a lot of money on its facilities and professors. I think this shows when you see the high level judicial clerkships (federal and even SCOTUS) and job prospects. I also think that the ND reputation carries huge clout, particularly in the Chicago area. Also- while South Bend leaves a lot to be desired the cost of living is way lower and also you're not competing so closely for positions with other schools (as with BU and Harvard where Harvard students presumably have an edge over BU students). Don't mean to sound know-it-all ish, I'm actually committed at ND now and turned down a BU acceptance early on in the cycle. ( this could also taint my objectvity on the subject though haha). Hope this helps

Thanks so much for your input! I feel as though the ND name does carry more weight. I'm just worried when I look at the percentage of students going to top 250 firms because BU has a higher percentage. I'm also looking to end up in NY as opposed to Chicago so I feel as though BU may be the better choice in that respect.
I went to BU for undergrad and so ND's gorgeous campus would be a nice change, but I would gladly sacrifice that if it meant better job prospects in the future.

I just don't know what to do. I wish Cornell would give me some kind of decision because I don't want to throw more money at BU for a deposit without knowing about Cornell. Cornell aside, which school do you guys think is a better choice BU or Notre Dame (I asked in those forums, but I wasn't sure if I'd be getting a bias decision there) ?
Where do you want to work? Are you from either area?
I'm hoping to work in NY since I'm from that area.

I would imagine BU is a wiser choice, but I really have no idea.

Boredom and speculation haha. Especially b/c of the three that updated one has acceptances to higher ranked T14s, and one has been getting scholarships to T20/25s

Yeah, I would lean toward BU over Notre Dame as well. I believe BU has stronger placement than most of its peers because it places decent amounts into both Boston and NY.

Finally received an update yesterday of JD Reserve. Im assuming it just means they are done reviewing my file, but I'm going to call today. I dont like this uncertainty and everytime Ive called Ive gotten a decent amount of information. Will update later.

I'm starting to believe this is true. I know this has been asked already, but has anyone updated AFTER changing to 'J.D. Reserve'??

I don't recall if anyone answered the last time it was asked.

Spoke with admissions yesterday who said that my decision's been made they just don't know when they're releasing it... I'm pretty sure this means JD Reserve definitely indicates that decisions have been made

Hmmm... what do you [guys] think about that?

Maybe it means that we've all been waitlisted and they are waiting to release the decisions in a massive wave?

Maybe it means they will accept some of us but they're just waiting for a spot to open up?

Haha from your options it would appear that if they're waiting they're probably doing it so they can release all of the decisions in a massive wave- presumably WL?

That's my impression.

The acceptance-theory (I'm makin up theories and shizzz) also makes sense in my head.

Who knows, right?

Easiest option rather than being anxious and making crazy assumptions was to call. JD Reserve isnt a new status the next update to our status checker will be admit, deny, waitlist and a date change. They had no idea the system was switching to JD Reserve.

Was there any indication as to when the decisions would be made/released?
