tl;dr: deferred? make other plans.

Thanks for the info!

Pretty bummed about Cornell but I'm simi-stoked to finally hit the ding bar.

Well that's not encouraging.. so glad I applied EA so that I would have a decision early on. I'd prefer a rejection so this would be done with, rather than being dicked around until July.

There were some acceptances and they seemed to come by the beginning of april. at least for me, that would be before my first seat deposit is due (boston college is due the at the end of april) and many other schools

Honestly, I applied to Cornell with some idea of possibly going there. I was looking forward to visiting the campus and pretty sure of getting in (at or above both 75%). With my numbers it seemed like the best school I could possibly get some money at, and the more I read about Ithaca and the campus the most excited I got about visiting there and possibly attending. Now I'm seriously considering withdrawing. Thanks Cornell. I don't know what's going on with your admissions, but it's rubbing me the wrong way.

On my third update (12/19), first complete in late November, above both 75ths...

I'm freaking out about return to complete as well.

Anyone get decisions after this step back?

I'm in this exact boat as well. I've checked the tread, and it doesn't look like it's happened to others...

Let me clarify with my updates: I believe I was complete late November, under review last week, and back to complete yesterday. I don't keep a close tab on my exact dates but I'm pretty sure thats' is accurate. You're not alone.

Thanks Elendil - nice to be in good company! Are you by any chance waiting on a Dec. LSAT score? (I am, and maybe that has something to do with reverting back to "complete"). Yay speculation games.

So do people actually think getting deferred is equivalent to a ding? Given the pretty low yield rate for Cornell, I expected to have a *better* shot in regular decision since people who got into a T6 will start to withdraw in January-February.

It's probably because they still have a really small class size.

The problem is that law schools keep that in mind and accept more students than they have spots for.

Given that Cornell has deferred me, my chances in any other t14 look really, really bad.

Don't lose hope. I was deferred at Cornell but got into two other T14s (and haven't been dinged at any yet). I'm a hard-to-predict splitter, but my cycle shows that a Cornell deferral doesn't necessarily mean getting locked out of the T14. Good luck!

This deferral has me worried about the rest of the T-14 as well.

Well I've been reading this thread for the past couple of days and I'm very surprised. I got in with a pretty low GPA and thought for sure I'd be rejected. If I had to guess, I would not think that a deferral is a ding. A lot of you have way better numbers than me so I would keep hope.
