Not sure if I'm going to retake from here. Tough day for sure.

You said you were going Cornell or bust, if I remember correctly? What are you thinking? Were you dinged or deferred/waitlisted? What's your situation? Is a year off possible? I will be three years between undergrad and the time I enroll in school. It's been one of the best things I ever did for myself.

I was dinged today.

I have some great options with schools here in MN but the job market makes me very nervous. I'm going to send out feelers to a couple of contacts I have about jobs and see if there are any possibilities. My schedule is loaded until the spring, though, so it may be tough to swing.

We'll see- I have a feeling I'll be at UMN in the fall, which I am still excited about.

Looks like Cornell is YP-ing like their life depended on it. I don't think they like being HYS/T6/T10-secure people's safety. It hurts their feelings.

WTF?

I imagine it's not representative of the numbers they're accepting. I lacked any decent softs and my worst quarter in undergrad was at the latter end.

Wouldn't YPing be indicted by WLing/deferring, not outright rejection?

This seems to be an exception, but many people with 90+% on LSP got deferred on Friday.

lol no. http://cornell.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats

They have accepted people with higher LSATs AND GPAs. Despite this rejection, I think it is safe to say we are all incredibly jealous of nine-and-fifty, who is sure to have better options elsewhere.

Not to say what they are doing makes sense at ALL, but it isn't flat out YPing like their life depended on it.

Well.... Did they do a "Why Cornell"? I doubt anyone with those numbers is seriously considering Cornell... Just my thoughts...

The outright rejection is precisely why I think they're YP-ing. Especially considering the drop in LSAT-takers etc. I mean they could have simply waitlisted/deferred him, right? Not like they'd have an obligation to take him off it. Anyways, this is all pure conjecture on my part.

Also, I think Cornell "forced" people to submit a "Why Cornell" this cycle by virtue of how the application was designed.

Several people with "autoadmit" numbers wrote "Why Cornell?" essays and still got deferred this week.

I was seriously considering it, so I did a brief "Why Cornell?".

You had to write a Why Cornell. It was not an option. Correct?

Yeah but it was like a 500 word maximum in a little input box. I think I wrote three sentences and was accepted.

1000 character. I wrote one sentence, was accepted.

I think crazypants is unquestionably TCR.

That's what I was thinking. I wasn't sure how many people really took it seriously.

Maybe they're just being more holistic? I would think that the smaller class gives them more freedom to do that even when they aren't as exclusive on a numbers-basis.

More conjecture: I think it could also be the fact that a lot of the people with "auto admit" numbers they accepted earlier are withdrawing en masse which requires a change in strategy to protect their yield. In any case, the auto-admit rejectees will be fine.

What can I say, I'm bored.

Went complete on 11/29, UR on 12/16, but then today my status returned to "application complete" on 12/16.
