I really think you have a good shot. What other schools are you looking at?

Well, because I wasn't sure of my chances, I applied to a broad spectrum (all super early):

Penn (early decision)
Chicago, Duke, Virginia, Cornell, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, Ohio State, Penn State, William and Mary.

I was really involved on campus, president of a few orgs, lots of service activities, etc. I feel my diversity statement is good, about my great, great grandmother being born on the Trail of Tears and groing up in a tenuous household.

Any thoughts on these?

You obviously did all the right things applying to a broad spectrum of schools since your cycle will be unpredictable.
Id say:
WL at Chicago.
In/WL at PVDC
In at GULC, OSU, Penn State and W&M.
I am not very familiar with Berkeley. Still, I think youll have a lot of choices. Good luck!

Checking in (168/3.85).

One of my top choices (behind Texas and Vandy). Scholarships, or lack thereof, will probably be making my decision for me. That being said, sticker at Cornell probably makes more sense than sticker at T or V.

I will probably miss EA due to my mysterious LOR writers.

Does anyone know how Cornell does scholarships? Lsn seems kind of random, though I don't know if this is due to people not disclosing on lsn.

Agreed, some are specified as need based and thus don't seem right for someone's stats (i.e arbiter213 on LSN last cycle).

Before I get accused of being obvious, I thought most T14 scholarships were merit based? Maybe Cornell does more need scholarships.

Yeah, that sounds right. The scholarships seemed very predictable for people above both 75ths. However, for people like you and I (one number at 75th, one number at median) they seemed random. Some got 30k, some got 45k, most got nothing.

My application is ready for EA but I have no idea if my professors have even sent my LORs yet (they said they would have sent them by now). Can I/should I still apply EA if I don't know anything yet?

From the app: "Your application must be submitted by November 1, 2011. The Law School’s Admissions Office must receive all required documents, including the Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report by November 15, 2011... Application files completed after November 15, 2011, will be considered in our regular decision process. "

I would apply EA. If the materials don't get there in time, the worst that happens is that you get rolled over to RD.

Yeah that's how I read it too. Thanks.

I didn't realize that. So I could theoretically send my second LOR by the end of the week and if it gets processed by the 15th I can still EA as long as my Cornell app is in? Awesome!

You're having the LOR faxed, right?

Did you write a "why cornell"? If yes, I would say you have a pretty decent shot. If not, probably a little less than decent. Either way, EA was a smart move.

Should be complete today or tomorrow.

Hopefully the admission gods smile on me, I would love to go to Cornell.

Sending in EA app tonight. I'm curious if I can still take the December LSAT and be considered for EA. Thoughts?

October is the latest you can take for EA.

Chances?

Tough to predict, as there's not much data on LSN. That 4.0 could be a real x factor though.

You were required to write something. I know some people just wrote a sentence or so.

I have often wondered about this. I have a 3.2 LSAC GPA with a 4.0 degree granting. i had ptsd issues when i first started community college after 5 years in usmc. this hurt my cumulative gpa. i have written a pretty good addendum for it (according to all who have helped me with it) and wonder what affect (if any) the 4.0 has on admissions decisions.

really? what a waste of talking space if you ask me. i went to the limit on mine talking about how nice ithica is for a two mom and son family like mine and talked about a particular clinic i like as well. i really thought this question was a bonus that shouldn't be squandered :)

Same, I wrote a substantial Why Cornell essay. I would really love to go there and wanted to make that clear to the adcomms. I'm very marginal with my #s and didn't want to leave any stone unturned.

Regarding your GPA, you obviously have a compelling narrative and I would guess that makes you more competitive than traditional splitters.
