Good luck to you though.Champion wrote:Submitted my app on 10/25, and was complete 10/27. Haven't had any date updates since then. Ps. Pretty sure it was you I'm thinking of, so congrats on Berkeley. That must feel great to have that so early in the cycle Good luck to you (I'm a reach candidate with my LSAT, so you are givin' me hope).

So... I submitted my application two weeks ago and I'm still sitting on "Verifying materials for completion"... should I be worried about this? They received a third letter of recommendation for me last week, so I could understand why I would be delayed, but it just seems kind of odd that I haven't seen ANY movement...

No, especially since you updated your file last week and this is a holiday week.Elendil wrote:So... Good luck, everyone. As a member of the class of 2013, I have (almost) nothing but good things to say about Cornell Law. Except when it snowed in April (at which point I would have given my left arm to be at UCLA), I haven't regretting going here once.

@Lincoln: I've heard that your class--the class of 2013--is far more relaxed than most Cornell classes, especially classes of 2012 & 2014. Is this accurate ?

I don't want to highjack this thread and turn it into a Q&A thread, so PM me if you have questions or I'll start a new thread if a lot of people respond with questions. I do think this statement is inaccurate, to an extent. I think the origin of the rumor is that my class did very well as far as finding BigLaw jobs. Having a job lined up is pretty damn relaxing, so I think many people have calmed down a lot this fall. But my 1L class was just as gunnerific as the class of 2012, and maybe even more so than 2014, judging by what I hear from friends who are TAs for lawyering sections. I really think this is something that doesn't change much from one year to the next, except in the sense that it tracks the economy.CanadianWolf wrote:@Lincoln: I've heard that your class--the class of 2013--is far more relaxed than most Cornell classes, especially classes of 2012 & 2014. My status has been Verifying materials for completion since 11/8, so yeah I'm pretty sure you're fine (hopefully I'm fine too).Elendil wrote:Thanks, I feel like that's holding up a few of my applications...luxxe wrote:No, especially since you updated your file last week and this is a holiday week.Elendil wrote:So... How do we know if we got any merit aid? Would it be in the mail letter or does it come later?

No mention of a scholarship in my offer. I don't know if they give out awards at time of acceptance or later on though..mattbarnes123 wrote:How do we know if we got any merit aid? Would it be in the mail letter or does it come later?

Re: Cornell c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
If anything happens today, i'm sure it won't be until after lunch time.
I imagine admissions offices work the same way most offices do - which means the Monday after a vacation, the first half of the day is spent checking/responding to emails and voicemails that accumulated, talking to everyone else in the office about how their break was, creating to-do lists for the week, looking at your outlook calendar and figuring out your schedule for the next few weeks until Christmas, and having a regrouping-ish meeting. Generally speaking, in an office, no actual work gets accomplished until after lunch that day. I bet admissions offices are the same, and rightfully so.

I received notification with my acceptance that I was being considered for a Dean's Scholarship, and that I have to submit an additional essay for it. I'm not sure if this is the only form of merit aid offered- there might be more coming out later, I suppose.mattbarnes123 wrote:How do we know if we got any merit aid? Thanks! My status checker changed to "under review" the same day I was accepted (11/22). I'm not sure if that's normal. The email arrived at 11:42 am.MiamiOxford wrote:For those of you that got accepted, Congrats! For those that updated, when did you originally go complete?
