Deferred. Don't know where to begin, what to do.. I think I'm gonna skip my office's x-mas party tonight. Not in the mood for congratulating the year 2011.

Did anyone get outright dinged? Anyone?
EDIT: Because if not, then some of us who got deferred might just be soft rejects they're putting off for RD.

I know this is like the pot calling the kettle black but try to lighten up a bit. It's definitely a stressful process but don't let these things get to you too much, especially since it's not even a waitlist or ding. You submitted the best app you could and now the ball's on their side of the court. There's likely going to be moments that are much more stressful than this when you're in law school and when you're practicing.sani8080 wrote:Original 9/28

No action today, I don't think I can sleep tonight
Try to enjoy your party tonight.
ETA: Begin by replying to their email with sincere interest (if you haven't done so already). Not sure about Cornell/Deferrals but people in the NU thread have had success getting off the waitlist in the past by saying that if they were accepted, they will unconditionally commit to going to the school and withdrawing from other pending applications. If that's your situation, I don't think it would hurt to let them know. If not, still write a convincing email.

Same here .... header is unchanged. I mean...if all else fails, we're basically guaranteed some kind of decision within a week. This thought gives me solace.

That's harsh. Sorry about the news. But just think of how sweet the acceptance will be when it comes in January. Plus, you've already got Gtown under your belt, yeah?msblaw89 wrote:Alot of people who updated today had a header change that said " deferred to RD"...I updated today and my header is the sameCampagnolo wrote:I just got back from lunch. Where is the header? On the status check page? Sorry I'm not going back through the thread to find this out, but I'm still at work and checking in covertly!

Re: Cornell c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
To all of my deferred brethren: I've done some number crunching.
Of the 10 of you whose numbers I could track down, plus myself, the median numbers for today were 170 and 3.7.
170 is above Cornell's 75th percentile, and their median GPA is 3.67.
Cornell obviously isn't totally into YP, but I would not conclude anything from this if Cornell is not your top school. I'm just going to move on and not fret about what this augurs for future schools' decisions. And to you who have not yet heard back: I would say that you don't necessarily need to worry about the numbers of some of the deferred today.
Good luck, everyone... deferred and otherwise!

Surprised I survived the deferral carnage today- still sitting at 12/15. I hope that doesn't mean a rejection is coming my way.

Are any deferred EA people ever actually admitted after February?

I'm with you. I feel vaguely like vomiting. But of course that could just be the Chipotle I had for lunch.minnbills wrote:Surprised I survived the deferral carnage today- still sitting at 12/15. I hope that doesn't mean a rejection is coming my way.
I am still filled with optimism. After reading the interview with Dean Geiger in Law School Confidential, I feel pretty good about the nature of Cornell's admissions process.
I've said it before: we're all devastatingly good looking and our essays could probably be nominated for the Pulizer. What's not to admit here?

Thanks a lot for ur words, really. Looking back at what I've written up there, it sounds like I'm gonna kill myself soon or something haha
Anyhow, I just sent the email stating that Cornell's my number one choice. I've gotten into a few others so far, but I prefer Cornell to all of them. Not that I like the weather in Ithaca, but its placement at Biglaw seems impressive.
GL to all other fellow deferred EAs. Just a note: I noticed from 2009-10 deferral forum that decisions for deferred candidates began to come out from late Jan. I don't know if this will be true this year since the email I got said "review begins after Feb 1." But I'd like to hear some news before I fully commit myself to another LSAT..

Well. At least I've not been deferred. At least there's that, right?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
