I'm non-PT and just went Under Review today. Submitted early Oct. GPA is a bit low for Duke, but hopefully they like me well enough.

I really hope so... It's just really disconcerting to start my admission cycle with a watilist. Now I'm getting super anxious about the rest of my application! lol Thanks for your encouraging comment though.vincanity1 wrote:Really sorry to hear that, Android. Does anyone know if it is worth soliciting a PT offer? I received a fee waiver a few days ago, but nothing about PT.

PT and under-review today
So does the ten days start from today or from when my app went complete?

Hey all,
Just submitted my app on Friday. Went complete on 10/31 via online status checker. I do have a quick question about the status checker, though. Mine says complete, file ready for review. Will it say something different once I'm actually under review or will it just stay this way until I get a response back from Duke. I am non-PT btw.
Good luck to everyone, and congrats to those who have already been accepted!

It should say "File under review" when that is the case.

PT complete 10/31, went under review today. To those who got admitted on days 7-10, were you under review from the beginning? Or was it a few days before you went under review?

I went under review on day 2 or 3 and got admitted on day 9. But that was from like a month ago or so, so it might not be as relevant as current PT apps.Modus Ponens wrote:PT complete 10/31, went under review today. To my surprise I received a priority track invitation from Duke (stats 3.66/170). Originally, I hadn't considered applying, but with the PT invitation and taking a closer look at the school I realize it's a great option. Since my GPA is super low for Duke is a Why Duke necessary? How much of a boost is writing the Why Duke essay? I'll definitely include the other optional-- the diversity essay. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Has anyone been rejected yet? Duke’s LSN chart makes me giggle. I guess they only invite people to do priority track who they’re going to accept this year?

I didn't write a separate Why Duke, but I did include about half a page in my personal statement about why I would like to attend. That's another option, as they state no min or max length for PS (although they say generally between 1.5 to 3 pgs).bumblebeebuzz wrote:To my surprise I received a priority track invitation from Duke (stats 3.66/170). does anyone know why some ppl get replies in 7 days and others need the full 10 for PT? does it mean the ppl who got in earlier had better numbers or stronger apps in general?

Nope, it just takes them awhile to process the apps. Depends on how busy they are, their recruiting schedule or other commitments, who gets your file.....who knows, but I certainly wouldn't read anything into a different in the number of days.lblelalr wrote:does anyone know why some ppl get replies in 7 days and others need the full 10 for PT? does it mean the ppl who got in earlier had better numbers or stronger apps in general?

You think getting a PT invite means there's a really good chance of acceptance? I'd love it for that to be true (since I got one).AmandaPB wrote:Has anyone been rejected yet? I haven't heard of any PT rejections yet, but there were a couple of people posting upthread who were "held" or whatever Duke calls it when they are moved to the regular pile of applicants to be reconsidered at a later date.
My understanding is PT applicants have a higher chance of acceptance than non-PT. I read somewhere on this site that the figure was around 70 percent.

Hi, I cannot give you the defininte answer to your questions but I had similar numbers (sort of) with you (3.58/ 171) so wanted to chime in. I applied through PT but I didn't do Why Duke essay (only did diversity essay) and I got put on a priority reserve list. If you really want to go to Duke and want to avoid the possibility of being waitlisted, I think you should write the essay. I'm not sure whether it would make a big difference, but you have nothing to lose and it's better to be safe than sorry. There are many pple who get in without Why Duke essay but theses people have amazing GPA and LSAT numbers.bumblebeebuzz wrote:To my surprise I received a priority track invitation from Duke (stats 3.66/170).
