I remember a friend telling me that you had to apply for scholarship offers post-acceptance. Not sure about anything more than that, however.

This is correct. You have to fill out a separate scholarship form that will be used for merit and (if you choose to include certain income/financial details) need-based aid. (Yes, Duke really does give out need-based aid). IIRC, scholarship notifications started coming (on a rolling basis) near the end of the year last year. And Duke tends to be pretty generous.

How generous is "pretty generous?" We talking $20,000 a year generous or full tuition (combination merit/need) generous?

Full tuition is gonna be tough to swing, but Duke does offer its full-tuition (Mordecai) scholarship to a small group of "top" applicants every year. Based on your profile stats, I wouldn't be surprised if you get an invitation for that. (I believe you have to interview for it, though don't quote me on that). Otherwise, as far as I can tell, Duke tends to be a little more generous than its peers (specifically MVP).

With your stats, you'll get a substantial scholarship. Whether that scholarship is worth more than a smaller scholarship at, say, CCN is up to you. But I'm sure you'll have plenty of offers to compare.

And on a completely different note, two of my good buddies here went to Southern Miss. Hopefully we can roadtrip down there one of these days; seems like a pretty cool place.

Thanks for the info! And yes, Southern Miss is a very cool place and Hattiesburg is a really great place to live. I miss it I'm stuck in Tuscaloosa right now getting my masters. Not that UA is a BAD place, it's just the campus is bigger and much more crowded and the town is smaller with much less to do

If people want to debate minute differences in schools and create arbitrary groupings, more power to them. But in the end, we're a non-HYS T14, just like the rest of CCNMVPNCG. I tend to put more emphasis on relative cost and personal fit, the latter of which deserves a lot more credit than it gets on TLS.

Thanks for stepping in to answer that question too. It makes LSN numbers make a lot more sense. I was wondering why some people in certain number ranges had 90k and so many others had nothing. I figure its partly under-reporting, but it also seems that Duke does this right after the first round of admits at H and a ton of the people with nothing reported are marked as attending Harvard with decisions in early Dec/Nov. They probably just W before decisions. I think everyone that has been admitted thus far is def in the numbers range to receive a generous scholarship according to past results.

I was accepted earlier today via e-mail. PT, went complete on 9/19 and status checker changed to "Decision made, watch for e-mail" today as well.

Don't worry, you will all get in. If you look at the graph of people with your numbers if all 4 of you were PR'd then you would alone account for the entire LSN class of people with your numbers WL'd at Duke last year. Unless they've changed their ways this year, I predict good news for almost all PT'd.

I have no idea how they go about this, whether they stack them in direct order of application time or by some other method. We were all waiting for awhile for the Michigan email and it turned out that a good chunk of people had applied at 12 PM- 3AM ET because they were on the West Coast or what not. They got their emails first, others that applied later in the day got their's later. Same thing is most likely going on right now. Hang in there. Only 3 more days of suffering and they will have to tell you something. I doubt the timing has anything to do with the result though. Plenty plenty plenty of people on LSN that got in on Day 10 last year.

I could be wrong though! If it helps anyone, I got into UVA already with the same package and I've heard nothing from Duke yet either. So I'm 100% sure that no one said I was Satanic in my LORs and that my PS/Resume didn't have any glaring typos or anything. Don't know why its taking so long other than they probably have alot of applications that came in right when it opened due to the 15 day delay people had to work on it.

I think they count based on when you went complete. I think most people got that notification on 9/19 so I think the result should be by 9/29-9/30 depending on how they count the days. It seems by LSN that its just 10 days period, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get flooded at the outset if its more like 10 business days. Since it doesn't specify, they could really go either way.
