Not really familiar with them either. Lincoln Park is generally nice as far as I've experienced.JamMasterJ wrote:they all are within 15 minutes via CTA. Are these all nice areas? All my hotpads favorites are in River North, Gold Coast, and the southern end of Lincoln Park (as well as one a couple blocks south of campus). Am I doing it right?

In via email today as well. There was a follow up email regarding fin aid, and if their package doesn't have a scholarship, I'll probably withdraw. Any idea when WL candidates get those? The email made it sound like it was impossible to get money off the WL.

So now that I sent my $750, is there anything else I need to do? I assume I get my log in information and all that after they receive the deposit?

More like 30/20, and 50% undecided.

I live in Albany Park, which is damn far away, takes me 45 minutes to get to school but it was cheap. The Gold Coast is pretty much walkable. Lincoln Park is my favorite and I plan on moving there for next semester. In nice weather it's a 20 minute bike ride to school, there is the Red and Brown line which both run by the school, and the 151 bus that takes about15-20 minutes to get to school. In my humble opinion DO NOT LIVE IN STREETERVILLE. It is pretty boring and exceptionally over priced, all it really offers is closeness to school, but I personally like the fact that I leave the area every day, it helps create a good separation to recharge.Flips88 wrote:Not really familiar with them either. Actually, I've been telling him not to come: he should reapply early with a tight app and some WE and get more acceptances and scholly money to barter with. I think he's settling by a lot and that he has a lot to benefit by turning down NU and trying again next cycle.franklyscarlet wrote:and you thought I was biased, blumpcrumpetsandtea wrote:Dude...srsly?Blumpbeef wrote:I'm 60/40 in favor rn.Dislaw wrote:So, from the latest batch, how many of you are actually attending?

yeah, I was informed of this after It's a pretty valid point. You don't think he'll get Jam'd?crumpetsandtea wrote: Actually, I've been telling him not to come: he should reapply early with a tight app and some WE and get more acceptances and scholly money to barter with. I'm maybe 50/50. The spirit is willing but the flesh is spongy and bruised. Any words from those of you that are definitely going at sticker or close to it? I know I should have expected sticker, but it seemed a lot different as a hypothetical instead of staring down the $250k barrel.Dislaw wrote:So, from the latest batch, how many of you are actually attending?

There's a reason its called "getting jam'd": jam's cycle was quite irregular, hardly something to be generalized. I highly doubt it would happen with beef next year.franklyscarlet wrote:yeah, I was informed of this after It's a pretty valid point. Even if it did, NU will take him again next year w/an early app if they took him this year with a late one. Esp if he tells them he reapplied to "get real world/ work exp". They will eat that up.
Not to mention, worst case scenario is he ends up NU @ sticker next year, only this time with a year of WE so that he doesn't get OCI pwned as one of the only NU-ers who are neither KJD nor WE candidates. The 1 year gap in his resume will be less obvious if he has a job for 2012-13.
and finally, reapplying offers the opportunity for other, better offers: uva, gulc, upen w/ed, mich, cornell, and of course the possibility of scholarships. Essentially he has nothing to lose and a lot to gain by taking a year off. Very similar to people who need to retake and reapply, except for him its finding a job instead of retaking.

I wish I could help you. I'm going at sticker, but I might as well be going at a full scholarship b/c my parents are great.bamasplitter wrote:I'm maybe 50/50.
