I don't think I'd make a very good roommate, though. I'm messy and I've lived alone for most of the last decade. Not sure 1L year is the best time to change that habit!

I think it takes a much better writer to be funny successfully, but most halfway competent writers can pull off serious. Humor is risky!

I think mine had one line that was perhaps somewhat smile-worthy (about the reading material my parents left in the bathroom when I was growing up), but I wasn't about to risk a flopped joke in my PS.

So much this. It's really easy to be funny to your friends, but it's really hard to be funny to strangers, especially in an ostensibly serious/professional situation.
