This is clearly the reason! You must not have gotten the memo that if you're OOS you must write an addendum explaining the ways in which you are indeed prepared to survive temperatures similar to the arctic... Or the even more remote Canada. That is the only way to get off the WL but I believe in you!

I want to say I was in review since November, maybe October, status change on 12/23 and then rejected via email today

Now im not looking for anyone to necessarily cheer me up, and not make me feel bad about myself, but how much emphasis does u of m place on region/ in state etc.? lets say i come from florida (but have tangential connectiosn to the general school-- my father teaches at the U, but a completely different part of the college, not the law school.

UMN places no emphasis on region and makes no attempt to target to any in-state %. The fact that your father is a professor will have no impact either way.

Just got the snail mail folder from UMN. I'm not saying I was expecting a full ride but after getting into UVA and a full ride to Iowa I'm more than a little shocked I'm getting nothing from Minnesota. I guess I won't be returning to the home state. Sad face.

Got my admit packet today. 19k a year. Even with reciprocity, I would still have to take out 110k in loans. When did UM get so damn expensive?

Yeah they like to fuck their residents. I heard from someone (that works there) that they don't like to admit residents because they get more money from out of state people. I thought that was kind of ridiculous at first, seeing as how they get plenty of money from the state, but its true.

That's really too bad. I can't believe it, unless what the other posters have said is true, which is apparently the case. At least you have other great offers, especially with the $$$ from Iowa!

Maybe they were including COL in that total loan cost?

How long does Minny typically take to process their apps? I'm stuck on 12/9 waiting for review / in queue ... Was hoping they'd have a quick turn around esp with one of my LORs coming from a professor who currently teaches in one of their schools... Anyone else w/ similar dates/numbers?

I applied 11/9 with a 165/3.6, and two of my LORs are from the school, I went to minnesota for undergrad, and I'm still in review with the date of 11/9. I would expect a long wait...

Math still doesn't add up. I'm not saying its not a lot - but no way are you going to be able to borrow that amount. The budget won't allow it. I suppose you can take out private loans separate from Stafford/Grad Plus, but that seems unreasonably excessive for COL.

To be blunt: whoever said that is entirely incorrect; period.

http://www.law.umn.edu/prospective/tuition.html

Website says its an estimated 52k a year for reciprocity and resident students (my packet I have in my hand states 55k a year). Multiply that by 3 and you have 156k according to the website or 165k according to my packet. Subtract my 57k in scholarship[ and you have 99k according to the website or 108k according to the packet..both number pretty much close to my original 110k, and that isn't including interest.

Wow. My bad. According to your packet - tuition will have gone up damn near 15 grand per YEAR since I started. Sadly - this is a trend across schools. Damn!. That is stunning.
