Last cycle on LSN it seems like they don't start giving out decisions until late Dec/early Jan.... has anyone ever received an answer from Minn any earlier?

daniel3.14: I think you make great points and as a 0L I appreciate their candid nature.

I completely understand your frustration about the exams. I just have to wonder if this experience is skewing your view towards the school in unrelated aspects. Would you have been this critical in the first semester before finals? Your comments, whether this is actually the case or not, appear to be rants stemming from resentment over getting screwed in your first semester.

I would amount this to how people talk about girlfriends. When they date, the guy loves his girl, thinks she amazing, sweet, nice, and attractive. Yet once he finds out she cheated on him, he'll say things about her that have nothing to do with being cheated on. Calling her a whore would be warranted, but saying she isn't attractive wouldn't be. Yet the guy gets so pissed, he hates everything about her and has a skewed perspective. All of a sudden this girl is a bitch, she is ugly, she has no friends, etc...

It seems like you are pissed at UMN and all of a sudden you think the bathrooms are terrible, their program is fucked, the building is dilapidated, and it is the scum of the earth.

I suppose the point of this comment is to ask whether or not you are saying these things in objectivity. Do you think you would hate the school so much if you had been able to type your exams? I am just trying to determine if your complaints are legitimate or if you are like the kids in my undergrad classes who get an F on a test after not studying and claim the teachers are biased and grade unfairly.

Hi Shredderrrrr-

If you want to talk about this in more detail, then PM me. I don't want to pollute this thread with OT discussion. Alternatively, there is a thread specifically about this, wherein you can post.

Briefly though: I think you're right that the order-of-events matters. It is true that my dissatisfaction with the school took on a more personal dimension after getting actually screwed by their ridiculous policies. I don't think I can honestly deny that this has had an effect.

But this doesn't mean I would have loved the school, had things gone differently. With regards to my objectivity particularly, you can always just compare my opinions before and after the exam snafu. That should be a pretty good filter as to whether my opinion has been tainted. Now, I was very clear about my negative impression of the institution from the beginning. I specifically recall declaring in October of my 1L year (well before exam time) that UMN is a "4th tier toilet with a 1st tier faculty" -- an observation which garnered much agreement around the water cooler whereat I spake the statement. I remember it well, as the quip was particularly apropos following an exceptionally tedious "lecture," and drew much head-nodding and approval from the gathered crowd.

I railed endlessly against the Legal Writing program and the insipid 1L lectures prior to any calamity befalling me particularly. I complained vociferously about the laptops, and the bizarre and nonsensical school policies from nearly the beginning of the year. So, to be clear -- if you're wondering whether my being personally screwed by the policies has affected my perceptions, I can only point to the fact that I had pretty much exactly the same view of the school before the exam snafu happened. My feelings were probably more detached and less personal, but the substance of my opinions were no different.

Additionally, I would note that a series of rather improbable events has my future career prospects looking extraordinarily good at present. I don't want to get too specific -- given some recent cyberstalking and harassment from UMN apologists that my posts have attracted, I'm loathe to divulge too much more personal information here -- but it suffices to say that my future prospects look pretty close to ideal. Better, indeed, than I could've hoped for even before the exam mess. Nevertheless, despite things taking a dramatic turn for the better in my hitherto tragic legal career, my opinion of UMN has not changed. It is still garbage, and I would not recommend it to anyone except those rare birds who prioritize region above all else.

I'm extremely ready to find out about this early decision. This wait is killing me.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the big day. Hopefully it comes before Investments or I have no idea how I'm going to concentrate on calls and puts.

I applied ED to Minnesota and I just got a call informing me of my acceptance from one of the Directors of Admissions. I would gladly answer any questions since tls was a great source of help throughout my admissions process.

If that is a real profile and that person got in and I didn't. . . that's pretty irritating.
