Did they raise in-state tuition again? I thought it already went up once for c/o 2015?

On a related note, why is Minnesota so expensive? $43,000/yr for an OOS student seems awfully steep, but maybe that's just me. Anyone know how receptive UMN is to negotiation?

My under review got updated today from 12/5 to 12/23. I went complete 11/23. Wonder if this means decision today before the holidays? That would be a nice gift

+1. I didn't realize how expensive it was. Especially for a public school.jbabs wrote:On a related note, why is Minnesota so expensive? $43,000/yr for an OOS student seems awfully steep, but maybe that's just me. Anyone know how receptive UMN is to negotiation?

Not generous enough, lol. Even with a $23,000 annual scholarship, you'd still be shelling out $20,000/yr plus the expenses of a major metropolitan area. Maybe I've grown stingy, but that still seems really expensive for a school that primarily places in an over-saturated market and travels poorly outside the state. I'm hoping I can leverage other scholarship offers for a better deal from UMN, otherwise I'll be withdrawing in short order. Minnesota's good, but they're not worth that kind of debt (to me, at least).minnbills wrote:Yes- they are generous.

I've given up and withdrawn. I was still in review from 11/9.

To see another waitlist is really going to hit my heart. I'm clearly not emotionally well enough to go through law school right now. If waiting for admissions is causing me this amount of heartache, think of the kind of nut I'd be in law school. It's not worth it.
I need to grow up a bit. Deal with my own issues. I'll get around to withdrawing from the rest of my schools sooner or later. This cycle was the ultimate bust for me.

I've worked with hundreds of applicants throughout this process... I understand. You can't let law school (or any one aspect of your life, for that matter) define you and your happiness. You're right to deal with that now, before it turns into a mid life crisis and a huge loan debt. But it'll be ok. Let the cycle pan out; stop withdrawing from schools. You may ultimately decide not to go this coming year; but you'll at least learn a lot from this cycle.Gail wrote:To see another waitlist is really going to hit my heart. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy the holidays.

dude, relax/ calm down, and stop over reacting... wait until you actually don't get into any schools before falling over the edge.

Into review 9/20. Last status date was 12/16 which is what it still says so hopefully some random from Minneapolis wasn't pulling my leg haha. 3.9+/162. In state. Non-URM.broncos_fan_26 wrote:Congrats! Stats? Previous complete dates? Pretty please.CaptainJack wrote:Just got the call. Accepted.

Got in today via the most awkward phone call ever. 166/169, 3.68, non-URM.
The store I work at blasts loud music all the time, I saw the out of state area code on my phone at work and rushed outside to answer it. Trouble was, I was still hearing more of the store music than the phone call and I'm pretty sure the person calling could hear the music too. I was super nervous and couldn't hear most of what he was saying...I didn't get the name of the school he was calling from and had to look up the 612 area code later.

Hopefully not! My status checker hasn't been updated since 12/23.CaptainJack wrote: Into review 9/20. Last status date was 12/16 which is what it still says so hopefully some random from Minneapolis wasn't pulling my leg haha. 3.9+/162. In state. Non-URM.
