What are they closing so early for, anyway? They don't even have winter there. :P

Good to know. Thanks for calling.

One of their best selling points. Ha, in UT's admissions packet it had info about how warm the winters are down here in Texas. lol...

Out of curiosity, did anyone write a "Why Stanford" statement?

My application wasn't Stanford specific at all. (No targeted letters, targeted PS, etc)

Based on previous cycles, it seems unusual that they would've only done 2-3 days of calls in December this year. Anyone think that gives us Sept/Oct submitters hope for January? Or is it that they just squeezed more calls into a shorter time period, and are likely to move on to admitting Nov/Dec submitters after the break?

I don't think they're done with Sept/Oct submitters. If I remember correctly, only one person who submitted in Oct. has been accepted so far (on TLS/LSN that is). I suspect they were behind on giving decisions out so they'll continue with Sept/Oct after the break. All speculation and wishful thinking.

If anyone were stupid enough to take the bet, I would wager a lot of money that you are in, spek. You seem to be just what Stanford is looking for. Fret not! :)

For those of us still waiting and finishing up coursework - would it be useful to send in a fall transcript and maybe a LOCI over the holiday break? If so, would you update through LSAC or send it straight to Stanford? (I realize the last question is probably best answered by emailing them...)

I remember reading something about letters of continued interest in one of Dean Deal's blogs. I would also think that sending an updated transcript to LSAC would be best because then your LSAC GPA will be updated.

An updated transcript would be helpful, but it's too early for a LOCI, I think. It would make sense to wait at least until the end of January, once more acceptances have been sent out. When Dean Deal mentioned LOCIs in her blog, I believe she was referring to post-January LOCIs, after a chunk of the decisions had gone out.

I think last year's blog concerning LOCI's was dated Jan. 4.

Oops. Fair enough. Still think it's a good idea to wait it out a bit - there have been so few acceptances so far. I'm personally going to wait until after the next round or two of acceptances so send one out.

I have mine written and ready to send. I'm tempted to send it the day they return to the office after break.

Congrats to her! You don't happen to know when she submitted, roughly? I submitted in late Oct so I'm trying to give myself a rational reason not to carry the phone around with me for the entire day.

got the call this morning, and i submitted the first day the app opened—so, to confirm spek's spec, looks like they're not done with any batches on the basis of submission date :)

not sure whether they're trying to squeeze all the sept/octers in before break or are going to continue accepting some more of us afterward, but i'd guess the latter.
