Dear Lord
Let this be the day..we have waiting long enough...this has been longer than lent fasting..this is torture. Please let dean Deal pick up the phone and call us..If we are not destined to get in at least let her WL/reject us promptly. We are tired of this. I know you have your own plans but for once may your plans and ours intersect. Thank you.

Seriously. Although I still feel like I'd rather get accepted on April 30 than rejected today.sharktankdean wrote:Dear Lord

Hey - long time lurker here. Thanks for all the posts! Do you really think they'd accept people 2 days before ASW? I mean I hope so but am quite doubtful.

it happened last year....but because this cycle is 'strange' i don't know if i should apply the same reasoning this time around.

I just want to say how cool this is.ned wrote: * I am a visual artist, so my PS links to a website with video of my work, which I discuss in my statement. I got lots of views from the bay area earlier in the cycle but not this month.

Thanks! Yeah it's kinda creepy I suppose but it gave me a little window into an opaque process. For instance, lots of traffic from law firms from all over the world. So there are probably "telecommittees" with far-flung participants going through files from their offices. Or committee members from schools might have just liked my site and shared with their lawyer friends. No way to know for sure.SpoonForkSpork wrote:I just want to say how cool this is.ned wrote: * I am a visual artist, so my PS links to a website with video of my work, which I discuss in my statement. Keep in mind that it's not US military experience, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if it isn't looked upon as favorably. I'm sure US military experience is an unequivocal positive to have in an application, but maybe schools would raise their eyebrows a bit at an American citizen who volunteered in a foreign army, particularly one as controversial and polarizing as Israel's (note that in my case I'm simply an American citizen, no Israeli citizenship or formal connection to Israel prior to joining). I recognized upon entering the army that it might complicate things down the road career-wise for me, but I certainly wasn't going to let that be a dealbreaker for something I felt very passionately about wanting to do. My career goals are in the same arena, in any case.avemundi wrote:your stats + military exp, and rejected. I am so fucked :0Mista Bojangles wrote:Not sure what to tell you. The 179 is a retake from a 173. My 3.8 is inflated a few hundredths by CC classes I took before college, but no other weaknesses I'm really aware of. Ivy UG, and I just finished up in the Israeli army, which I view as a strength but really is probably more like a wild card in that I have no idea how individual schools will view it. I felt I put together a strong app, and I got great money at all of CCN (including $90k at Chicago where I've deposited) which seems to preclude the possibility that I had any unforeseen weaknesses such as a LOR writer unexpectedly throwing me under the bus. So I'm not sure what to chalk it up to. Maybe H will still come through; I've been under review there for the same length of time (got held a few months back).jim-green wrote:How is that possible with a 179/3.8?
Mista Bojangles wrote:Also DLS today. Also rejected (called as well). Was quite a ride since going complete over 6 months ago on 10/10 - have to wonder, though, how long they may have been sitting on my decision.
Anyway, I'm kind of grasping at straws here because, well, Stanford would have been awesome. But I think H would be most ideal for me, so that's what I'm really pulling for. I'd like to maintain hope that I've still got at least some shot.

Well if they weren't, why wouldn't they just outright deny/waitlist all the soft holds? Perhaps they'll wait on the soft holds until after ASW to see if more people put in deposits- is that what you're getting at?anon12 wrote:Hey - long time lurker here. Thanks for all the posts! Non-URM, not international, no WE, average softs. But I did submit a LOCI a few weeks ago. Faye was also aware of the impending ASW and gave me login info via phone so I can register for it in time. She was really pushing that I attend, so it sounds like she will probably be trying to admit people before then.Barca10 wrote:URM? International? Also, can anyone give insight on financial aid this late in the game? Is it unlikely that I will get any?

although lsn is not representative and some people do not update their profiles, I have to say that the fact that there are still3 and a half pages of pending decision decisions is astonishing...Yale and Harvard are closing the gap...what the hell is Stanford doing..
Ok can someone give us the update on the # of people in the Stanford Google group.

Google group up to 149 (incl a handful of administrators/current students). Still think it's not nearly as representative as the Yale FB group, but there have been a ton of people who joined in the last week.sharktankdean wrote:although lsn is not representative and some people do not update their profiles, I have to say that the fact that there are still3 and a half pages of pending decision decisions is astonishing...Yale and Harvard are closing the gap...what the hell is Stanford doing..

They've definitely read everyone's file at this point, I'd say.YesNoMaybe wrote:I have a late Jan complete date, fair to assume they haven't even read my file? I don't have phenomenal stats so it's not likely that my stats would've put me in a special "likely admit" read pile.

With the wait we've had you have to wonder if there might be a few slow readers. Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Good Lord, what could possibly take this long? I mean, I'm willing to wait for good news (as I'm sure all of us are), but this is getting absurd. Are they waiting for Miss Cleo to do a tarot reading for each soft hold to see what the future holds for that person? Are they trying to invent a time turner so they can go back and somehow obtain a more competitive applicant pool? I don't see what else could justify this slowness. Even Yale seems like it has more or less finished admitting people for the initial round. Leave it to S to take forever and a day.chucklesmcgee wrote:With the wait we've had you have to wonder if there might be a few slow readers. I've had this stuck in my head all day. Definitely fitting, but incredibly annoying. Share the pain with me, fellow waiters.
