At least you have a solid backup plan. Congrats!

Thanks. I guessed that's why we heard an early wait list. I think Dean Asha was right. I'm not sure telling a school you have to meet a deadline is a good idea. But these schools put us in those positions.

Yeah, after I read Dean Asha's post, I regretted putting it in my LOCI...but so be it. Maybe it's tucked well enough in there that they haven't really noticed yet.

Hmm I did the same thing and got DLS Friday. Maybe it's a waitlist and not the ding I anticipated.

How do you figure this? 52,000 tution - 17,500 GI bill - 10,000 Yellow Ribbon = 24,500 tuition, but 2,350/month for BAH with an average UAH rent of 1,000-1,300/month.

So are those of us who haven't heard destined for the dreaded Waitlist?

not necessarily....i think anyone could be in any of the 3 piles (admit/waitlist/deny) at this point..i think they are still reviewing apps (dean deal is prob finishing up tho).

I'd agree as well. I don't think Stanford would WL or ding people because they mentioned that they had deadlines. I think we are mostly already in our respective piles and they just hold the sing and WL pile to release in larger batches. People who asked for a quicker decision probably only got them because the decision had already been made.

Dean Deal, please do NOT call me. Not yet. I want to swoop in off the WL all dramatic. Whatever you do, do not call me. No.

But if we are already in the 'admit' pile, why haven't we gotten a call yet? This leads me to believe that the rest of us might be waitlisted or rejected... at least those of us with early submit dates...

last year some early submitters got admitted in April...i think that's just the way Stanford operates.

I'm sorry I guess I wasn't terribly clear there. I'm sure there are some people she is still weighing between admit and WL. I just meant that I think the swift WL letters to people who mentioned that they had upcoming deadlines were merely expedited notifications of a decision that had previously been made--not rushed decisions because of the deadline notifications. I think that makes sense.... :)

I think they might be waiting until deadlines at Chicago and NYU pass so that those people withdraw, therefore increasing their yield from the people they do admit. Maybe?

I understand that rationale, but last year they admitted people consistently through 3/30 to 4/9. Perhaps Dean Deal just can't make the final decisions? Who knows at this point.

I hope so. But also I don't know how many people actually withdraw. They may, and most likely will just let their offer expire naturally as the deposit deadline passes.

We could just all be super special snowflakes.

I think with some of those scholarships you are required to withdraw from all other schools. But I am not the expert because I am not a baller with a T6 scholarship offer.

From what I understand, most of those schools only require withdrawal of applications with decisions. Pending applications are not required to be withdrawn.

Considering that Stanford only accepts 380 people, I could totally see Dean Deal having a problem with picking between the various special snowflakes.

I see what you're saying, my point is that in the past acceptances have gone out before those deadlines...but who knows.

Anyone else reading into the fact that Dean Deal has hardly updated her blog this year, and that it must mean she's a little behind schedule, and therefore has TONS of admit calls still to make?

Nope.

I have tons of free time and no blog, so I don't think the two are related.

Hahah I think a lot of the dean blogs have fallen into disrepair this year, but I think it's just because they kind of exhausted the novelty of them and don't have much new to say really..

I think the fact that I diagrammed this statement in my mind to discern its truth value is a sign that I wasted far too much of my time studying for the LSAT. And that it has left scars.
