10/25, yay us. This waiting game is rough, hope we hear some good news soon!

This kind of makes me wonder why TLS makes *such* a fuss about applying early! At least for Stanford, the timing of the application doesn't seem to matter so much...

For Stanford it may not matter much since they "soft hold" such a big chunk of their applicant pool, but for other schools it probably does. HLS seems to make most of their decisions within a few weeks of receiving each application, and your odds decrease the longer you wait.

Do JD students have the option of automatically doing a JD/MBA, or do we have to apply to the MBA program separately? If so, time to start studying for the GMAT!

I'm gonna be a dick, and say that this is a stupid question. This is something that is easily available on their website, which should be your first resource for any questions, not a board. Second of all you mustn't know much about either law school or B school because the curriculum and skill sets are very different. If you knew this that should answer the question for you.

Yeah, that comment was totally unnecessary. Also, way to not answer the question. *Restrains self from making rude comeback*

Pretty sure you apply separately. I remember part of the application materials stating that you can send law school LORs to other departments for joint degrees.

Stanford's business school is ranked the best in the nation, and is even more selective than the law school. Not sure if an acceptance to the law school translates into a bump for MBA admissions.

Yeah, you do have to apply separately. Thanks for your polite response. Congrats on your acceptance! I'm glad that Stanford seems to have a sense for which applicants are not only talented students, but also NICE HUMAN BEINGS:-)

I hope that if I do, then you don't. Because you're clearly the type of person that asks eminently and easily answerable questions. I can hear you now: "Professor, in Marbury v. Madison who was the plantiff again." ugh

Yeah, making mad assumptions is going to serve you so well in law school...

Do they do snail mail + email? sorry, I have not been following =/

No clue... :(

If you are rejected your status will change and later you will get something by snail mail. If you get in, you will receive a phone call. If they can't reach you by phone or you are an international applicant you will get an email in the evening. I believe that if you are accepted, your status will change to DLS a few days after you are notified. No one on tls or lsn has been waitlisted yet and waitlists usually come out in April.

So it ends then... DLS as well. Guess it's time to go back and pick a school. :(

UR 1/6 and avoided today's cluster of DLS, hope this means I'm being saved for a waitlist (which is surely my best hope)

I mean, Geneva, the comment was unnecessary, but he is kinda right. Look, we're all happy you got into Stanford (congrats, btw!) and get that you're excited, but I must've seen about 20 posts today in which you've mentioned or implied getting in and it's a bit much. A lot of people are still anxiously waiting and and while I know it's not your intent, posts like that kinda flaunt it in their faces. If you're going to ask questions about SLS, I'd stick to the 'In at Stanford' thread where you're less likely to offend.

It's not Geneva's fault that you all are so easily offended.

Not quite what you're talking about, but I remember coming across this before and it's too funny you mentioned it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1h8I91XOdw

99% sure it's going to be a ding, but just wondering...does stanford WL by mail too, or via email?

Last year it was by mail. So there's a chance, but most of the WLs came later in April. Good luck! Could you share your dates with us please?

I'm pretty sure it's a rejection with my LSAT and the fact that my advisor told me no one (even with great LSATs) from my school has gotten into Stanford in over 3 years... so much hate. a WL would be nice though, i guess...

I sent in my app 12/08, but my dean's letter took forever to be processed by them. So my review date was 1/6 up until now (it's currently blank).

If it would have been an acceptance, from what I've seen on this thread, they either call you or email you if they can't reach you by phone:/.

It's more selective in the sense that it has a slightly lower acceptance rate, but it's not necessarily harder to get into. The GMAT is much easier than the LSAT. SBS's median GMAT is 728, which is just 96th percentile, and it's median GPA is 3.69, versus SLS's median of 3.9. The wild card, of course, is work experience. But SLS applicants are much stronger as a group than SBS applicants, as far as numbers go.

That's what I meant (Wikipedia says the acceptance rate is 6 percent or so). I don't know much else, except that you need years of work experience.
