I hope this is right all day, but I have never really heard anything about an in-state/out-of-state quota really playing into their admissions at Berkeley.

That being the case, I also think the fact that Stanford admits less than half as many applicants as Berkeley makes this hard to believe.

Thus begins another day under review.

Obviously they want me, they just want to play hard to get. It's fine. I'm cool with that.

Nice thought but strongly doubt it. Stanford is in a different league. Both schools do value high GPAs more than LSATs, but they're just in different leagues. I applied to both schools in Oct. and I'm outta state. I was admitted to Berkeley in their first round of acceptances and yet have heard silence from Stanford.

Ditto with the Berkeley acceptance but nothing from Stanford.

Although, I'd be fine with such previous occurrences leading to an eventual S acceptance.

Hm:/ I do think both SLS+Berkeley value softs a lot more than peer schools, but maybe at SLS it's harder to surpass the required GPA/LSAT threshold for consideration? Or maybe I just have no idea what I'm talking about, but I was truly SHOCKED to be admitted to SLS. My Dad's response: "You got an acceptance phone call from Stanford? Are you sure it wasn't a prank?" In any case, I wish everyone still waiting the best of luck!!!

"A decision letter has been sent." o_O

99% sure it's going to be a ding, but just wondering...does stanford WL by mail too, or via email?

Last year it was by mail. So there's a chance, but most of the WLs came later in April. Good luck! Could you share your dates with us please?

I'm pretty sure it's a rejection with my LSAT and the fact that my advisor told me no one (even with great LSATs) from my school has gotten into Stanford in over 3 years... so much hate. a WL would be nice though, i guess...

I sent in my app 12/08, but my dean's letter took forever to be processed by them. So my review date was 1/6 up until now (it's currently blank).

Some people called and asked after DLS but before the letter arrived last year with success. Don't know if that's necessarily the case this year. Stanford is definitely a school where your UG matters from what I've seen, so I feel that. Also, no one has gone from my school to SLS...! Thanks for the info.

Even though I know my decision, I just wish they'd email me instead of wasting the postage and making me anxious.

For those interested: Just went over the 2010-2011 cycle on LSN. Looks like the last round of acceptances started on 3/28 and went until 4/8, then WL/Reject. 09-10 was 4/2 to 4/9.

Oooo, I hope you get it! I wonder how much law schools take into account UG when making offers. Have students from your school gotten accepted to top schools besides Stanford in recent years? If not, I have a feeling that might be a partial explanation for your wait-list record:/

No no, Stanford is an enigma. people from my school get into other top law schools all the time... i can name a couple going to Harvard, NYU, etc. etc. etc.. My WL record is i'm sure 90% due to my LSAT... =/

Hm, on the one hand I guess that is good if you are going to retake. On the other hand, it sucks bc your LSAT is definitely high enough to show that you can do the work:/

No email yet, but I didn't include a phone number in my app. But since I haven't gotten anything, I'm betting a rejection...

If you are rejected your status will change and later you will get something by snail mail. If you get in, you will receive a phone call. If they can't reach you by phone or you are an international applicant you will get an email in the evening. I believe that if you are accepted, your status will change to DLS a few days after you are notified. No one on tls or lsn has been waitlisted yet and waitlists usually come out in April.
