Is it now safe to assume that there's nothing bad on my statement of undergraduate dean? (this is something I'm not 100% on)

I know stanford is a black hole but let's keep it positive. We have not yet been ACCEPTED at Stanford

If you're not clear on whether you have a disciplinary record or something, you should probably check with your undergrad directly.

I don't think splbagel's response was intended to be malicious.

For the most part, the Dean Statements are just a way for the undergrads to tell the law schools whether students have had any disciplinary actions taken against them. So... if you have a disciplinary record on file at your undergrad, then you can assume that it's been sent to Stanford. If you don't have a disciplinary record, then you can assume that nothing "bad" has been included in the Dean's statement.

Haha, ok... you asked about whether you could infer the content of your Dean's statement by watching Stanford's actions on your application. No snark or offense intended.

Complete since 10/6, right over here. I want to be on the West Coast, so I am very, very happy to have been accepted to Boalt... but admission to Stanford would be a dream come true.

When is the deadline to pay the first deposit if you've been accepted? I'm curious to know when Stanford will know how many seats have been filled and how many more they need to fill.

I know there has been a lot of debate ITT over whether or not to send LOCIs but I just wanted to share that is super simple and the office is quite helpful. I sent one today as an attachment and they answered in two hours thanking me and letting me know it was added to my file. MUCH simpler than H's annoying process. :)

It's the same thing, I'm pretty sure :) Or else I'm in the same boat as you...

Oops, my b! Something someone said somewhere made me think there was another stage o.O
Probably me being silly.

Well, at least that makes me feel a bit better about the silence. I can pretend it's because they're reading my app.

does this mean i won't be penalized for turning in my application in late january? berkeley said that late applicants would be at a disadvantage, but i somehow got into boalt. fingers crossed that stanford will also be so kind...

I feel like my most recent and only WL (at Penn :x ) gave me some bad karma.

I need a buffer school to admit me so I can shake off the bad smite and get some luck back before Stanford hands down their decision. (Cornell maybe?)

Hoping so, did you get the packet in the mail as well?

Mine came in early Jan w/ a fee waiver form and a letter from the BLSA.

Me too! More into Yale/Harvard than Stanford, but would be thrilled to get into any of the T5.

I'm assuming my rejection from Berkeley means my chances at Stanford are completely nonexistent.

Oh well... Nothing I didn't know from the get-go.

This is not necessarily true at all! Keep optimistic: Berkeley is known for being a black box when it comes to admissions. There are a few people on TLS with incredible LSAT scores who got into Harvard, Columbia, etc and didn't get into Boalt. Each admissions process is completely different.

I have a question about LORs. I have been working for the last year on an independent math/stats research project with a professor at my school and at the behest of a UN organization, for whom I did an internship about a year ago. The project is finally wrapping up and I am doing the finally write-up. I can probably get the paper published in journal, but first it needs to be edited etc. etc. so I'm certainly not going to have a confirmation on publishing before Stanford (I'm a soft hold) or Harvard (I'm a hold hold) make decisions on me. I'm going to present my work at a small conference in about a month and I have maybe a couple other things to add to a resume (lined up a summer legal internship with a non-profit, have been nominated for distinction in one of my majors), but I don't know if a line on my resume about a small not competitive conference would really capture the awesomeness of actually having finally finished this research that has been eating my life for a year.

So my question. Stanford, my top choice, has an LOR from my research adviser already and I imagine it was pretty good, but if my adviser sent an updated LOR she could talk about how I've finally finished this thing. Do people send updated LORs to Stanford or Harvard? Would that be a terrible idea? Of course I could send them a letter about what I have done, but I think it would be more convincing if I didn't write it, wouldn't it? Should I just send an updated resume?

Sorry this post is so long and thanks for any advise.
