For now I think if you didn't hear back you are either in the admit or wait list pile.

ahhhh that's what I was thinking looking at LSN. Hopefully it's the former. I also sent them an LOCI (last week), and they said they would be adding it to my file, that also led me to believe that a decision wasn't made yet.sharktankdean wrote:Champion wrote:You think Stanford is done with the September/October group?Genki wrote:Good luck to all of my fellow mid November UR applicants.

I think it's standard for all schools to say "it will be added to your file" I feel it does not mean anything. I sent an update to NYU two days b4 I got in. I was told it would be added to my file the day b4 I got my decision.

You are an URM right? You may get your decision when Stanford releases its urm batch. But don't worry I think you will be fine. It's Stanford we can't question the almighty Stanford.
That's the thing, I'm Hispanic, but I'm not a URM... maybe Stanford considers me one anyway? lol

If I sent in an LOCI, when is it appropriate to follow up to see if it was received? Is it ever? I sent it Friday.

Inexplicably I survived another day of status checking! I think Columbia Harvard and Stanford have made a pact to ignore my application. Haha

This is very true. I was expecting to hear back later that most applicants but I'm really not sure what's happening this cycle. Not sure at all.sharktankdean wrote:fingerscrossedxx wrote:"Decision letter sent" On my status checker today. Doesnt say when the letter was sent but I was UR 11/22.

You are having the oddest URM cycle I have ever seen.

Safe also. I hope I get a decision before I have to send in a deposit somewhere else. Anyone else concerned about this?

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
So I know this has been said before, but I think it's worth repeating:
Stanford uses the "soft hold" really extensively. I think something like 40% of their "accepts" on LSN last year were in march/april - and that's not figuring in the ~10 percent of "accepts" who didn't provide a date. And to boot, this cycle started later than last year. So if you've only heard radio silence to date, stop freaking out!
This isn't HLS, where they pick up an application, read it, and make a decision. FD really likes to hold onto these things until the very end, and seems to really stick to the idea of "creating a choir" in her class instead of just picking the top applicants. If you submitted in September/October and still haven't heard (like me!), I'd read nothing more into it than that you're not an auto-reject and you're not an auto-admit. Figure your chances are still roughly what they were at the outset, if perhaps slightly less.
(Full disclosure: I submitted in september last cycle, got waitlisted in april, and got rejected the first week of classes. I submitted september this cycle, and have heard nothing but silence. The above opinions are based on my observation that a lot of people were in the same boat as me last year, and i'm probably bound for the same result this year...)
