NOTE: Transmission of electronic applications to this law school will begin on 9/15/2011. Please return to this page at that time to transmit your application.

Application Procedures: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... plication/
The JD application for Fall 2012 admission will become available on September 1, 2011. The application deadline for Fall 2012 admission is February 1, 2012 (11:59:59 PM, PST).

Application Checklist:
  • Application for Admission
  • Application Fee ($100)
  • Resume - Stanford requires a one-to-two page resume describing your academic, extracurricular, and professional activities.
  • Personal Statement - Enclose a statement of about two pages describing important or unusual aspects of yourself not otherwise apparent in your application.
  • Statement of Undergraduate Dean
  • Two Letters of Recommendation - Stanford requires at least two and no more than four letters of recommendation to be sent directly through the LSAC Letter of Recommendation and Evaluation Service.
  • Law School Admission Test
  • Credential Assembly Service Report
Dean's Certification Form: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... _formb.pdf
The form must be given to the current dean of students (or a comparable administrative official with access to the school's official records) at the college from which you received your baccalaureate degree. The official should send the completed form directly to the law school. Foreign-educated applicants need not complete the form.
Letters of Recommendation: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... plication/
Please be aware of the high value Stanford places on school-specific letters of recommendation. If you choose to provide us with a targeted letter, please be sure to assign the appropriate targeted letter to Stanford Law School.

It appears that Form C (Statement of Instructor) will no longer be used this year: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 5#p4697294
Notification of Acceptance: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... acceptance
The law school uses a rolling admissions process, acting upon applications throughout the admissions season as they are completed. However, some applications are held until the committee has reviewed the entire applicant pool. This second review occurs in April, at which time the class will be filled. (A small number of applications will be held for possible use in filling vacancies that may occur during the summer.)

The Office of Admissions will make every effort to send applicants a first response (accept, deny, or wait list) by April 30.

Tuition and Fees: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/tuition/jd/
Tuition
Tuition in 2011-12 is $47,460 and will rise in 2012-13. Tuition is due in October, January, and April.

Cost of Living
For single students, room and board in University residences costs approximately $19,569 for the school year. Required books, if purchased new, cost about $1,890 a year. Local transportation, clothing, recreation, and the like are more variable items, but most single students will find that they need to budget a total of at least $74,982 for the school year.

Here's to hoping they start caring less about GPA and targeted letters

Oh boy guess I'm in this thread as well. Would looooove to go here. Guess I better get going on my dean's cert as well (or at least figure out exactly what that even is/how to get one). My UG is a nightmare for anything involving the administration so I should start workin on that yesterday.

I linked the dean's cert form in the OP. Print out the PDF, fill out your name/LSAC number/signature, and then had it to the Dean of Students at your undergrad. I had no idea where mine was, so I just went to my department office and asked them where to go.

No problem :D

Hahaha, I still have a lot I can add to them. Going to slowly do so as the days go on.

I feel the same way about Yale's. They require post-grad ones from my UK unis. I couldn't ever figure out who to send them to. No Deans. I sent them to random appropriate-sounding offices and I am just going to hope for the best.

Does anyone know anything about the Stanford specific LOR? I don't have any connections to Stanford and I don't think my recommenders do either...

Wondering about this too. Do you need more than the name dropped? I know that's useless in a PS, but I can't imagine any of my recommenders would have something meaningful to say about why I should be at Stanford.

My understanding is that Stanford likes that you took the time to make sure the application was tailored to them. I'm sure having an LOR come from someone who's affiliated with Stanford helps but I think the fact that your professor or employer was interested in writing an additional letter for you (and filling out the Stanford form) says something about their relationship with you. Of course, I may be wrong. I'm just hoping this is the case :)

Has anyone tailored their personal statement to Stanford? How far must you go in doing so? Is it enough to say something at the end of PS like:

"Stanford is clearly the best place for me to pursue this track, because it is the premier law school in the region I want to practice. The interdisciplinary approach to law and the strength of the international relations and political science programs in the wider university are ideal for my background and future interests. As a mother and recent navigator of the public school lottery system, I am also very interested in the YELP program’s work on educational reform in California and the Levin Center’s promotion of public interest careers."

Do I need to write something more substantive or is something like this good enough?

Yea I've been curious about the Stanford-specific stuff too. Is a LOR tailored to them enough, or are we supposed to tailor our PS's to them as well? :?

Was discussing the LOR stuff with soj last night. I think it was Form C that you're supposed to give to your recommendors.

Not sure about tailoring the PS though.

Woops, had the mixed up, it's Form C (Form B is the Dean's Cert)--let me link it in the OP.

Yes, each of your recommendors: http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... mC2010.pdf
