Waitlisted today via status checker. Only went complete 3/13. No Why Michigan. I was planning on having more time but I guess I'll submit it as an LOCI now.

I got my acceptance packet in the mail yesterday!

Reading through the thread, I've noticed that people were able to see any scholarships offered by logging in to the admitted student site. If I do a search and get the result, "No Awards Found," should I assume I'm paying sticker or hold out hope that they just haven't gotten to it yet?

If it has been more than a few weeks, chances are you are not being offered a scholly... sorry. :-(

If you just got the packet yesterday, they probably haven't gotten to evaluating your financial aid package yet. Empirical data seems to suggest that you should check back after ~2 weeks to see whether or not you've qualified for any merit aid.

Hi recent admit here. I spoke with FinAid yesterday (granted it was about something unrelated to your post) and they me that because of Preview weekend FinAid might be slower to respond. I'm guessing this also means they might take a while to post our FinAid info.
Yay!

*fingers crossed*

I heard within a week regarding my financial aid, given this was last week, so if they're busier now that might not be an accurate time line

They're still in the same cluster. Until either school consistently outranks the other for 3+ (or some other arbitrary number) years, the difference in rank is irrelevant; MVPB is still MVPB regardless of how those letters are rearranged.

The choice between MVPB should probably come down more to things like culture fit, scholarship, regional employment prospects. I'd still prefer Michigan over UVA purely for school culture (which is why I didn't apply to UVA).

TLDR - no, it's not weird.
How would you distinguish the culture of the two? I mean, obviously UVA is in the south, but in terms of law schools, they seem to have similarities. Collegial atmosphere, located in a college town on a scenic campus, youngish law student body (it's no Northwestern)

Hm, I want to be careful with what I say about either school because inevitably someone will offer an anecdote to contradict my opinion/generalization (no matter what it is).

I do think that the schools being in different regions has a huge impact on cultural dynamics. A college town in the south is probably different from college towns in the north, midwest, or west (in the same way that NYC, ATL, and the Bay are all very different).

I think that's all that I feel comfortable offering. If you're torn between them, I think it would be best if you could visit both schools and get a "feel" for each culture on your own (as I'm sure that people perceive cultures differently anyway). If that's not possible, there are other threads on TLS and ATL (above the law) that discuss the general characteristics of each school's student body.

Don't lose hope, just recently there was a small wave of early submitters that was admitted.

I've noticed that Michigan gets more love on TLS than just about any school. I'm curious as to why this is. Why does UMich get more attention and praise than Penn, UVA, and Berkeley?

(All this Michigan love is infectious...)

why do schools do this? when i see posts like these they make me start to appreciate the value of the "hold" status. did u do the optional essays? if u only did one, maybe sending in another one (def a WHY MICH if u didn't do that one already) would help? good luck to both of u!

Eh, I think a different school gets a lot of love every couple years, or so I've heard.
