That LSN number is pretty good actually, assuming that 15-20% of all applicants are on there, that means they only reported 15-20% of all waitlist admits. 6 people means between 30-40 waitlist admits if we're assuming that. Of course, my numbers may be (probably) wrong.woodscommaL wrote:I refuse to believe that Dean Z would lie to me. btw, the waitlist website FAQ says they average about 35-40 folks of the waitlist each year...

Is this per year or is this the total over the last 5 years?

Also I think waitlist admits tend to get underreported a lot on LSNjusticefishy wrote:That LSN number is pretty good actually, assuming that 15-20% of all applicants are on there, that means they only reported 15-20% of all waitlist admits. 6 people means between 30-40 waitlist admits if we're assuming that. I think that is a really, really high estimation. That is like, what, just under 2000 applicants to each school (since most T14s get ~8-9k)? There is no way there are that many people on LSN.justicefishy wrote:That LSN number is pretty good actually, assuming that 15-20% of all applicants are on there, that means they only reported 15-20% of all waitlist admits. 6 people means between 30-40 waitlist admits if we're assuming that. Just sent in the survey. Looks like I'm waiting this one out. Come on, Mich! You know you want me!

Michigan gets about 5,500 applications each year and there are close to 700 people applying to Michigan on LSN. That's about 12%. Respectable showing, definitely not 20% though.luxxe wrote:

Waitlist. 35-40 people off the list doesn't seem like a whole lot. I'm picking the Wolverines to lose in the 1st round of the tourney next month. I feel like that makes us even.

So are those of us who haven't heard anything today out of luck?
Sorry to those who are WL'ed, but I envy you as I have a feeling I'm heading straight for a rejection now...

On-topic: I'm sorry about the WLs, y'all. I haven't decided if I want to ride this one out or not, but for those that definitely are, good luck!

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
WLed. Ready to ride it out. Worst part was had an error with an extra r in my address with Dean Z's name and I had a deja vu about this happening. I had to send a different LOCI after the WL though to replace the other one since it was kind of context specific, hopefully my nerves go unnoticed. Lol, I've never been so neurotic in my life, normally I don't edit things at all. The one time I review something for 15 minutes before sending it I miss something blatant -_-.
All well, I guess I'm just going to relax and not worry about it. Time to plan for DC, grats to the guy that got in today though. I think I'm still on my daily Chik Fil A high so I can't thought dick at the moment. That, or at least this is semi-closure as it looks like I basically need to plan for my other choices and may get in in like June.
But the accepted of today know that somewhere in Los Angeles, I will be thought dicking soon.
really.

The use of the word "typically" makes me assume it's per year. If it were 7-8 a year, that would a crazy yield, wouldn't it?KevinP wrote:"In the last five years, we have typically made offers to 35–40 people on the waitlist."woodscommaL wrote:I refuse to believe that Dean Z would lie to me. Michigan was my most-checked status checker. I already feel lost without the Complete, and it hasn't even been a day yet. This is worse than the time the LSAT was over...

Right there with you. I would be shocked if I was outright dinged, but I suppose it's possible.Mal Reynolds wrote:I have been forgotten. I am a little scared a straight ding is still on the table. Anyone else not get anything today?
Paging Tiago Splitter. Is he going to crack 6 months submission to decision?

I know man lol, knowing I'm not gonna be checking back till near April at the earliest is weak. This also made me realize that I still haven't heard from NYU, which I'm assuming is a ding but why they took so long is beyond me.Green Glass Windows wrote:Michigan was my most-checked status checker. To the Gym of Georgetown I fly.
Edit: Also, while this sucks guys, most of us are pretty fortunate to have T14 acceptances, especially those of you already in the T6. This sucks but keep that in mind over the next few months whether you're waiting it out or not. Good luck to everyone wherever they end up, I'll probably be back and forth intermittently but pretty infrequently.

3rd decision rendered, 3rd waitlist received. starting to think in this age of technology, information sharing and admissions predictions websites, rejections are becoming more and more scarce because of self-selection and more waitlists have to be given.
but still sucks ...

Early November submitter here who still hasn't heard anything. I can't tell if this is a good or bad thing- I'm above both 75ths but who knows what's going on over there at this point. Hoping that we'll hear at least something in the coming days.
Also, good luck to all the WLs today, I'm sure you guys will have (or already have!) great options.
