Ah, but I find the taste of reduced fat better than the regular ones. Maybe it's just the texture.

Bump. Radio silence here and I'm a long shot for a Darrow, but still interested.

The general consensus is if you received initial merit aid then you will not get a Darrow invite. I think the few TLS'ers that have received Darrow invites mentioned that none of them were given initial merit offers and the same is true for past cycles.

We have the same table.

This just gave me lots of false hope that I'll be getting a Darrow invite.

Also, FWIW I'm not upset. This happens every year...cocky 0L's who think they know better because they have "friends" who did it. They learn eventually.

I don't think because someone knows of a different anecdote than your own it makes them a "douche" or a "cocky 0L" I think LS is a very anecdotal undertaking. Everyone has a different experience just as we don't all set out to accomplish the same thing (although admittedly 95% of TLS shares the same mentality be it Group Think or just that they're afraid to say what they really feel for fear of being mocked by the more sage minds of TLS). I know that ultimately we'll all take different paths and so in a few years when I'm telling some 0L "I was able to do this and this and this and this..." they will likely come on TLS and say "My friend did this" and someone will undoubtedly find themselves incredulous and call them out. And the cycle repeats.

Let's move on and chalk this up to January jitters.

What? This doesn't really sense. Literally, almost all law schools have nearly identical curriculum with slight variation, hence why so many try to stress their clinics and other offerings. Law school is the definition of a cookie cutter experience, there's only so many anecdotes that can come up about Contracts law. And it's not like being a lawyer allots you some mystical options outside of law so again, there are only so many career paths for lawyers.

As for the other argument going on, I don't really understand what the issue is. The one guy already admitted that his friend took 30-40 hours less class a week; I could see how working would be pretty feasible with almost half the amount of required time for school throughout LS, although I still think it ultimately wouldn't be worth it.

Uh no. Not everyone chooses to do Law Review or is chosen. People participate in different clinics. Also after 1L it's not that cookie cutter. Some choose joint degrees others don't. Some choose to specialize others don't. Etc... Thus LS can be as cookie cutter as you want it to be but it can also be quite individualized.

None of this matters. My original assertion...which started all of this...was most people wouldn't have time to work 2L if they were on a journal. Scrabble Champ then decided his friends knew better and that my analysis was inapplicable as the OP didn't mention a journal...despite the fact my response was qualified.

Michigan's status checker says the decision on it.

The status checker for Michigan has been changed recently. It now tells you if you've been accepted or rejected. Don't know if it will say anything for WL'ed people since those decisions haven't started going out yet.

You are correct. None of it matters because it was a pretty pointless argument to begin with.

...but we can't let it rest, because NO ONE has presented good evidence on Reduced Fat v. Regular Cheez-its. I say Reduced Fat is fine--it gives off the image of "Mmmm, sexy is delicious!" even if you have "stank breath." (I lol'd when I read that, btw.) However, one may also argue that if you are going to eat junk-ish food, you might as well go all the way.

There. I reasoned for BOTH SIDES of the argument. Top 5%, here I come.

(Blathering on about nothing is my way of preventing myself from obsessing over LSN, URM statistics, and my personal statement.)

Reduced fat cheese tastes like ass. Cheez-Its are made from real cheese. Therefore, Cheez-Its > Reduced Fat Cheez-Its.

Doesn't matter. Checked status checker anyway.

Le sigh.
