So is the consensus that the "we haven't forgotten about you" email means nothing? I missed the answer that you guys inferred from past cycles or whatever.

So far no one who has NOT gotten that email has gotten in.JamMasterJ wrote:So is the consensus that the "we haven't forgotten about you" email means nothing? I missed the answer that you guys inferred from past cycles or whatever.
According to past cycles, however, some people eventually did end up getting in despite not getting the email. Dean Z did a blog post saying if you haven't gotten the email, then a decision has been made one way or the other (no waitlists, however).
TLS Speculation: If you didn't get the email...then a decision has been made...and if you're status doesn't update to Congratulations then that means you haven't gotten in.
As always, some people disagree and want everyone to chill out.

Actually she said if you didn't get the email AND you submitted before some unknown date then a decision has been made.WhiteGuy5 wrote:So far no one who has NOT gotten that email has gotten in.JamMasterJ wrote:So is the consensus that the "we haven't forgotten about you" email means nothing? Yeah true, but that date was like...until Christmas. Jam applied in like the 4th century B.C.cerealdan wrote: Actually she said if you didn't get the email AND you submitted before some unknown date then a decision has been made.

I got the email. So basically not getting it (and not having already gotten in) is bad, but getting it is not necessarily good or bad?WhiteGuy5 wrote:Yeah true, but that date was like...until Christmas. Checked my status still complete. So unless rejections are accompanied by an email, looks like we will have to wait for snail mail

Hah, its boring for the engineers too, which is why we pass out the booze. Unrelated note, last week we converted half of our break room into a functional wine cellar. I will miss it...crumpetsandtea wrote:^_^!!! All I do is TLS/gchat, occasionally answer phones and do bitch work, and the engineers are always offering me shots and booze. Not yet. My hope is that they're taking so long because they're looking over my file to admit me, but they're probably just busymsblaw89 wrote:That's where I'm at too. What is it about engineers and booze? The ones here literally have a minifridge in their office that is packed with booze. Whiskey, jager, peach/apple sake, different beers...I never knew engineers were such alcoholics!!chem wrote:Hah, its boring for the engineers too, which is why we pass out the booze. All the ones I've met either never drink, ever, or show up sloshed, everywhere. It's like there's no middle ground.crumpetsandtea wrote:What is it about engineers and booze? I don't want to show my face in this thread today. I'm either going to be miserable with a rejection, or faced with a terrible case of survivor's guilt.
Either way, it's not a gonna be fun.

Ugh, I agree with this. What's the point of the status checker if not to prepare me for what I will inevitably find in the mailbox?emcoast32 wrote:didn't the blog indicate that now status checkers will update with decisions, both good and bad? i don't know if i can go near my mailbox without some kind of advance warning.
