I'm also a splitter, but with numbers a bit better than yours. After my lack of an email yesterday, I've resigned myself to accepting the inevitable ding/WL. Maybe you have something that I don't, though.

Not really... An addendum explains why my GPA is so low because of one absurdly bad year that is against the grain from the other 3 years which were all 3.25 or higher. Michigan is a stretch for me though, definitely. I was expecting to be rejected, just wondering if anyone else had gotten in with similar numbers.

Wish I had checked this thread earlier today but I've been busy at work. Just checked my status checker and I'm in! Super happy...Dean Z has made Michigan very appealing for me.

Applied 11/13
Status checker 12/7
Received the stress email.

Good luck to all!

sorry if this has already been discussed, but I've been at work all day. Anyone see the ballsy post on the blog regarding options for not causing hysteria? I wonder if they have a way of tracking IP addresses to logins and can find out who that was. Not that it was necessarily outlandish, but I have to believe that 1) they are on or at least lurking this very thread and 2) they did not get an e-mail!

Actually didn't see it until you mentioned it just now. But seriously, that blog comment is kind of correct. The international incident caused by this email has been pretty nutso, and if the email really was just a courtesy, they probably should have just sent it out to everyone and avoided wasting time on this debacle.

I have a feeling that they are wasting next to no time on this issue beyond that original blog post. I think we'd all rather that they just kept working on decisions at this point.

Came back to college apartment to find a Michigan acceptance dated 1/9/12!! It has been a long time since I have seen any movement, so I'm super pumped!

Submitted 10/5
Status Checker 10/12
That "keep your hopes up" e-mail on 1/9

Don't give up hope, early submitters!

Submitted 12/6 and still haven't received a status checker. Just emailed the admissions office to see if it had somehow been spammed off the server...anyone in a similar (sinking) boat?

This comes up every single year and nothing they do seems to help. Literally every year. In fact, I posted a warning ITT months ago that this e-mail would be coming and asked it to be added to the OP...which it wasn't. Maybe people should stop freaking out so much so they can focus on doing their jobs (accepting/rejecting people) and not worry so much about how every action will be perceived by a million different people under different circumstances? Could they e-mail everyone? Sure, but once they make a decision you get pulled from the stack and added to a different distribution list. (So, to e-mail everyone they would have to e-mail EVERYONE...even people admitted months ago.) They have enough to do without keeping track of every single person individually.

As to tracking the IP...I'm sure ITS can do it but I doubt they care that much.

Also, this is not an international incident. Incident felt by people worldwide ≠ international incident. Violation of the Laws of Nations between states = international incident.

Checking in, as it's likely I'll be at Michigan with some of you next year.

Admitted last week. Applied in late September, early October. LSAT in the mid 160s, GPA below 3.5. Strong softs. See, there is hope in the world.

Does Michigan's status only change once per day?

I got my confirmation email on 12/8 and have heard nothing since. The email indicated that it might take up to six weeks though and Christmas was during that time so I wouldn't completely lose hope yet.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
