I would be beyond down to join such a fine organization.

If 11/22 people ever get access to ASW and I'm lucky enough to get in, I'll bring some Lagavulin to that club in a heartbeat.

Count me in. Athletics have kept me from pursuing my true life's calling as an alcoholic for far too long; I won't let law schools delay it any further.

Looks like Ann Arbor might be getting a little crazy next year

Or Ithaca, if I'm eternally exposed to red text.

My goal would be purely a scotch appreciation type event rather than a scotch binge drinking type event. Scotch is far too expensive too create a binge drinking club around. That is what the scotch clubs ugly step sister would be all about. Cheap clear liquor drinking club.

I'm an unapologetic Oregon booster, but you gotta try the House Spirits White Dog whiskey. It's got a clean, subtle flavor. I wouldn't want to drink it all day every day because it isn't that complex, but it's very well executed and worth a bottle.

Speaking of Oregon whiskey, McCarthy's Single Malt is about as good of a domestic approximation of an Islay malt as I've had, I'd definitely recommend it.

Would be in on this. Macallan's but only if its old enough to order its own scotch.

I think ASW should be a champagne event. Save the good scotch for those cold winter nights.

I'll most likely bringing my bottle of JW Blue for the school year and would be happy to contribute it to the club! We may need some cigars, I think.

And Mickey D, if you wrote a "Why Michigan" that was anything like that love letter, they're probably swooning.

Thanks! It is just hard to see people who went complete after you hear before you. (Obviously I am really happy for those who have gotten in though! :D :D ).

If I don't hear back by the first week in January it will likely be a WL. :(

I'm still waiting to hear from Michigan as well, but I would definitely be a part of this organization. I was in a similar club during my year abroad (check out the University of Edinburgh's Water of Life Society), and I gained a real appreciation for single malts (and blends, for all you JW people). I even visited a few distilleries, Balvenie and Glenfiddich being my favorites. Glad to know I'll be among friends if I attend Michigan. Besides, it's so cold that you probably need a wee dram from time to time.

I apologize that my first contribution to this forum is about Scotch. I'm nervous and hope that Michigan likes me. There, solidarity.

Michigan will definitely yield protect. You already had a KB2 if I remember correctly, so YP is not unjustified. If you do end up WLed, I'm sure a good LOCI and they would pull you right off.

I'll say this again: I'm not sure if Michigan YP's to the extent that is implied here. I have a 177/3.78 in hard science, several years managerial experience working for a Fortune 100 financial services firm, I am a disabled veteran, and I was admitted to Michigan a few weeks after I went complete. I think Michigan really is trying to find specific people to fill its class with and numbers, though important, don't seem to play as much a part of the decision process as other schools.

Quibbling over terms? She has Darrow invite numbers. My point was that Michigan isn't going to outright reject someone with her numbers, but they certainly do waitlist people. If someone with those numbers is really committed to Michigan they're going to get in.
