+1 it both causes me to stress more than usual but also find peace in the fact that everyone is also just as neurotic

What's the protocol on a LOCI here? Do I send a physical letter to the office of admissions? Do I e-mail? Is doing either a bad idea until I'm actually waitlisted?

My numbers are YP-level high: over 3.95, over 175. I don't suppose I can write a letter where I'm like, "Listen, Mich. I'm applying because I want a Darrow, mmmmkay? Don't fuck with me."

I've never even considered a LOCI until now. But I really do want to be considered for a Darrow.

You should definitely send one (esp. if your Why Mich was either weak or nonexistent). Email is probably fine. You are quite clearly a YP candidate for them.

Call me crazy, but I was actually a little bit relieved to get this email. I thought I was an auto-reject, so the fact that they sent me anything other than a flat rejection gives me some hope.

If you wrote a why x, what the hell do you say in your LOCI?

+1. I have no-fucking-idea.

Also... any point in sending in an updated transcript if my GPA didn't change?

I would. Then they at least know it didn't drop.

For a Michigan LOCI, you could always do one of the other optional essays that you didn't so with the original app.

This time write your LOCI as a limerick? Interpretive dance and send them the YouTube link? For all the love Mich gets for being so transparent and with it, this whole process is getting a little silly. It's a school, we applied to it, obviously we want to go there.

+1 there. Maybe I should call tomorrow and ask if they want an additional LOCI.

Applied with good numbers and two optional essays (including a very specific why mich, the only why x I wrote), but held anyway. A few months ago I would have withdrawn, but my financial situation now makes it impossible to pass up a chance at a big merit scholly. I'll write a LOCI this week.

I looked through last years thread and it seemed to be a scatter of acceptances and waitlists for the emailed people. This is quickly approaching full retard.

If I can wrangle another LOR on short notice, can I just email mich instead of going through LSAC? LSAC takes weeks to process things.

An sorry if this was asked earlier, but I'm at work and can't read back to see.

You can email michigan.

I also want to say this:

Please for the love of god do not send a LOCI in today. Not because I'm afraid you'll get your LOCI in first, or that Michigan for some reason would see my not getting in a LOCI immediately as a bad thing, but because this shit is important. We have one law school cycle in our lives, generally speaking. This letter is very important. Do not rush into it. Take your time. Do your research. Write something thats true rather than rushed. Make sure you do all the basic things that you'd do for a personal statement. Have friends look it over. I've read hundreds of LOCI's and you can really tell the difference between genuine ones and fake ones. Its easier to spot ingenuity in a loci than it is in a PS or a why x. Take care with this because if you don't, I promise you, everyone will know.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

What about for those who didn't get an e-mail? Am I SOL?

They got decisions in the month of january. The email people started seeing things in February. Take this with a grain of salt - the tls search function hiv kicked in midway through my reading.

So not necessarily rejections?
