Yeah, she wrote that they love grads from my school too. But keep your hopes up anyway?hookem12 wrote:Still haven't gotten a status checker, but got an e-mail 12/9 saying they'd send me a username/password for it in 3-4 weeks. let the months of waiting/crazy obsessing begin!
With my fee waiver I received a letter where the Dean (or someone in the office) wrote at the bottom: "We love to get UT grads!" - made me smile and got my hopes up, but I'm thinking they likely did it for everyone

She wrote a statement including my last name, using it as a pun to describe how impressive my undergraduate career was. I keep it posted next to my desktop at home. I hope to get accepted!Moriarty wrote:Yeah, she wrote that they love grads from my school too. Nice!! Even if the dean wrote personal stuff for a lot of people, it's still cool that she did. In my experience, no other school really went out of their way to show that it wasn't just a mass fee waiver.PopTorts13 wrote: She wrote a statement including my last name, using it as a pun to describe how impressive my undergraduate career was. That being said, it isn't all that cool that I have no status checker yet...

LOCI is away in response to the bizarre email. Figure I shouldn't have much of a shot with my numbers, but if I got the email, there must be something they like, right?

Exactly! What a good way of putting it. I'm in the same situation, hoping to get my LOCI in the mail on Friday.grtbooks91 wrote:LOCI is away in response to the bizarre email. Figure I shouldn't have much of a shot with my numbers, but if I got the email, there must be something they like, right?

Ah, are most people doing this? I have LSAT at median and GPA >75th and wasn't planning to tbh, but as the days go on (and on and on) with nothing but complete, I am getting weary, Michigan.grtbooks91 wrote:LOCI is away in response to the bizarre email. I would go for email here. I think they vastly prefer quick and easily storable to classy.grtbooks91 wrote:Whoops, I emailed mine, which I suppose is far less classy, but also gets there faster?ColtsFan88 wrote:Exactly! Unless you really have something significant to add to your application, my understanding is that you probably don't want to be sending in a LOCI. Michigan is just slow *shrug*

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I responded pretty quickly to the email last week (like same day), I didn't send a formal LOCI so much as a quick email stating I understood why I didn't have a decision yet, but reaffirming my interest. Along the lines of "I get it, there's a lot of very cool people applying, that's kinda why I want to go here..." I got a nice response a day later and was accepted on Friday. As long as you're genuine it really can't hurt to reach out.luxxe wrote:Ah, are most people doing this? Ya, I thought about email but I figured we appreciate a real letter, with a real signature, so why wouldn't they appreciate it as well?grtbooks91 wrote:Whoops, I emailed mine, which I suppose is far less classy, but also gets there faster?ColtsFan88 wrote:Exactly! Likely makes zero difference though.

The speed they receive the letter shouldn't matter, as they aren't expecting one. And the applications are usually physical files, meaning emails have to be printed out and placed in your file.thelaststraw05 wrote:I would go for email here. I really don't thinly it matters one way or the other, though.

Any thoughts on sending a Why Mich this late in the game? I submitted 11/22, status checker 12/22, GPA>50th, LSAT>75th, no email, no decision. I didn't send one initially, but since then I've come to think of Michigan as a really good fit for me. I'm just worried that sending one now will look insincere.

In regards to scholarships:
I'm aware that aid offers will show up on Admitted Students site under the Mail & Money section within 2 weeks of acceptance.
Question: Does the wording in this section change if you will not receive anything? Mine currently says "Zero Awards Found" and just wondering for those who have gone more than 2 weeks without hearing, if there is a definitive point at which you can rule out receiving any aid.

You submitted later than some people who got admitted yesterday. I would be patient.cerealdan wrote:Any thoughts on sending a Why Mich this late in the game? If it's been more than 2 weeks and you still have Zero Awards Found, you probably are not being offered financial aid. At least that's been the pattern thus far this cycle.FavoriteColorGRUE wrote:++bumping for same question!thestillpoint wrote:+1, exact same question.bobbydonnelly wrote:In regards to scholarships:

In at Michigan!
I am ecstatic!
applied late November, under review Jan 4, accepted Jan 19 via status checker.
GPA close to the 75%
LSAT above the 75%
Not URM, but an unusual background. I did not get the email.
Good luck to you all still waiting!

Yep. Considering I was under review for just 2 weeks, I'd say the email doesn't mean anything at all.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
