I'm an international applicant with a 164 and a transcript that couldn't be translated into a GPA (all my file said was 'above average'). With those stats, even with the international student factor, I could barely dream of being offered a place at such a wonderful school and had already been rejected by the likes of GW. In fact, I had almost given up on this entire cycle until Dean Zearfoss contacted me! I have such respect for this institution knowing how carefully they must read the thousands of applications they receive in order to ensure a truly diverse class.

THANK YOU MICHIGAN!
Congratulations! That's fantastic!

Do you mind sharing when you submitted your application and when you went complete?
Absolutely. I submitted 11/2. I got my status checker on 11/22 (I'm pretty sure that showed me as complete at that point too). Then the wonderful email from Dean Zearfoss came through on 12/21.

I guess 1 and 2 are my new lucky numbers judging by those dates...!

Good luck to everyone else who has yet to hear!

Ugh my status checker has been updated every day since 12/20. The anticipation is getting to be too much!

Oh, didn't know that. I guess I didn't check it for a while after it finally went complete and just assumed that there was some reason for the updating.

Still, can't stop checking!

Not sure if you guys have seen this but here's the NALP employment stats for Mich:
http://www.law.umich.edu/careers/classs ... stats.aspx

I found it to be pretty helpful to compare against other schools that post the same info (eg NU, Chicago, and Yale according to the NU thread).

So when do WL offers begin to go out? I submitted late October, and it seems like most eventual WL'ers began hearing in early to mid January last cycle.

Has anyone received a WL offer yet? Also, is a WL essentially a ding? I looked up high scoring applicants from last cycle and a lot of them were let in, but none who were WL'd ended up with an acceptance. For people with target numbers it seems like WL --> Acceptance is also pretty rare.

I am above the 75th percentile LSAT and just below the 75th percentile GPA. I submitted late October but still haven't heard back. I am thinking YP.

Will I get in eventually as long as I don't withdraw? Will I get waitlisted? And is anyone else in the same boat?

Lots of us still in the same boat. As goes YP: depends on whom you ask. Those of us in said boat will allege that it is YP, while those of us who have been admitted tend to disagree vociferously.

Either way, it doesn't really matter, and it doesn't look very good for you and me. I looked up people with 173+ and 3.7+, and maybe 2/3 of the non-pendings were WL. There were very few rejections, but also not a single WL --> Acceptance.

Conventional wisdom seems to indicate that a LOCI following being WL at MVP will do you wonders. It's absolutely worth a shot if you're really interested in Mich.

I had a 3.9/177 and no ties to Michigan, so I question the YP assumption (simply because those numbers are also above their 75%ile). Dean Z denies any sort of YP in one of her blog posts, though I suppose any admissions officer would deny such a thing, regardless of the reality :)

Yeah, I mean, no school YPs totally. Two people off the top of my head who have already gotten into Yale have gotten into Mich, so it's certainly not cut and dry (like people say is the case at Penn and UVA), but frankly it would be sort of silly not to employ some sort of YP at a non-T6, and I think those who steadfastly deny that it happens at all (at any non-T6) are a few cups into the Kool-Aid.

Anyway, this has already been discussed in this thread and there's no point in speculating to the consternation of others. I only meant to open up a dialogue about waitlists... when we might expect them, what the prognosis is once certain of us get them, and what remedies are at our disposal for getting off of them and into the admit pile.

I wonder if there is a distinction between your stats and mine (174/3.83). Yours seem high enough to be considered for a Darrow; mine do not. Perhaps they admit those who have a legitimate shot at a Darrow and not those who fall just short. Outside the Darrow, they don't give huge scholarships. They might assume an applicant with my stats would choose a peer school that offers a larger scholarship.

Yes. Absolutely.

(That is to say... that is a pretty wild assertion. Many will probably turn into WL, but I would wager that not all of them will.)

Received packet in the mail today. Opened it and the first thing I see is "showgirl search" with a girl upside down on a pole. Turned it over to see it was a housing info packet and the girl was on the back of the ecurrent issue.

Even those of us reverse splitters? I was under the impression that they might hold us until later in the cycle when they had a better idea of their applicant pool. So that might just mean a late acceptance and not necessarily a WL right? Hoping so!

Looks like I was accepted on the 23rd (not sure who asked). Received the package today. The video has pretty much sold me on UoM.

This is surreal... Good luck everyone. Keep hope alive!
