Got my received email last thursday, hoping I can get my checker before Wed. Doubt it would make a difference, but at least I would feel like after Thanksgiving I'm near the top of the pile. Good luck to all of you getting your checkers, and grats to those already in. Excited for you all.

They do. Once it updates for the day you shouldn't expect any changed until the next update.

The status checker is also delayed such that it won't say "decision made" until some days after the actual decision has been made. Most people on TLS use the ASW (Admitted Students Website) as a "real" status checker - if you're admitted, you should be able to log onto the website. Caution: Checking ASW seems to drive people crazy.

once "complete" goes to "decision" you should be able to log in to ASW using the same info (the ID and your birthday) by clicking on the link to ASW from the admissions page

Just google mich law admitted students' website. Enter your Michigan ID number and birthday. You get access (royal blue screen) when/if you have been admitted. And you'll get this access before the status checker updates to decision and before you get the package.

I first got the email from Dean Z on my phone, and the preview before I opened the actual email was, "A little more than a week ago, we sent you a big packet. We hate to ruin..." MY HEART DROPPED TO MY STOMACH. I think I felt more relief after opening/reading the email than I did when I could get into the ASW.

Submitted 9/29. Not sure when complete but it was quick because I submitted so early.

And, FWIW to anyone still thinking of applying this year or in the future, on my acceptance letter Dean Z wrote something to the effect of: "We really enjoyed reading your personal statement! We agree you'll add a lot of diversity to our student body!" So keep that in mind. Apparently PS's do matter. Unless she was just being froggy.

I'm pretty sure she writes a positive note on everyone's acceptance letter. I'm not saying that the PS doesn't matter, but I don't think you should take this as evidence that Michigan weighs them more heavily than other schools.

Sorry about my delayed reaction. I never said they weighed it more heavily than other schools. I should have qualified my statement, actually. I have 3 acceptances. All three of them have written a note on my acceptance letter. That's not uncommon. But all 3 spoke about my PS. Not sure if that's common or not. But just wanted to throw it out there to current and future applicants. Based on the experience of at least one person, PS's may actually be valuable. So spend the time. Or I could be way of. Just throwing it out there.

Ahhh... IN via the ASW this afternoon!!! I literally stepped off the plane in Hawaii (on a family vacation for Thanksgiving) and checked email. Nothing there, so I checked the ASW, expecting to see the usual red text. But... I'm in!!! I'm trying not to be totally paranoid about it -- if I could access the pretty royal blueness, it means I'm in for sure, right?!
So happy right now -- Michigan is such a wonderful school!!
