To Curious: Yes, I'm male.
To Kitty: I don't know about that! Still a borderline candidate for YHS, so I'll err on the side of pessimism.

So everyone who got in received an email saying to call the Admissions office? Is that correct?

Wow, I really thought I was making up "the matriculators." It's so hard to be original these days
I had the patent and first comic book already brewing in my head.

random question: filling out the app now, and there's a section for affiliations to uva law other than previously listed relatives. i have family friends that are professors at uva, but no at the law school. i don't need to list these/they don't help at all, right? i'm assuming not, but i wasn't sure if maybe it would help establish a connection to uva since i'm certainly not a sure thing there?

I'm another splitter just admitted RD with no money, so those decisions have definitely started.

That section concerned me, too - I don't have any close relatives affiliated with the law school, so I left almost that entire section of the app blank, and I got in anyway. I'm sure that section may help to get an idea of your commitment level to the school, but a quality application with a Why X easily achieves the same thing.

So just curious, I applied last year and deferred but dont remember his "financial aid" box. I heard they do not really give financial aid outside of loans. Am I mistaken or has this changed? Any information is appreciated!
Also: you cant fill out the FAFSA until after January, correct?

+1
did you guys write a why uva and did you check yes for financial aid? same boat here i think thats why i haven't heard (my numbers are not bad)
Don't know what your numbers are since they aren't in your profile, but fwiw, the people that have gotten in RD so far are not likely to matriculate at UVA if you get what I mean. Almost all have HYS or CCN numbers, and have been offered substantial scholarships to attend UVA.
My point is that if UVA is a target for your numbers or maybe even a slight safety, don't sweat it. I don't think they've gotten around to those decisions yet and don't seem to have admitted any RD splitters either. Its been all people above both medians from what I can tell (or heck of a close to).
im above both 75's for uva, didn't check financial aid, didn't write essay, so idk

trying to figure out the logic of these early uva admissions is so annoying. are they taking hys people and giving money to try to entice in these hard economic times? but then some people with sub-hys numbers are in too so what is it? lol

It's really strange. There were a few people early on above medians who got big schollys but since then they've been admitting random splitters and also people who are above medians with no seeming rhyme or reason... very odd..

All that can really be told is:
1) A few weeks back, they let in a bunch of high-numbered people with large scholarships
2) Late last week they started letting in a more mixed bag of candidates - some with high numbers got scholarships and some just got in and some were big splitters.
So I think we can assume that the 'real' start of the admits has begun. Hopefully, Fridays will be good news days for a few more weeks at least.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
