So jealous. Sent an email about an updated transcript, got "we'll try not to keep you waiting too much longer" .LaCumparsita wrote:Thank you!! I can't wait to visit! The story is that I did not write a Why U.V.A., nor had I heard anything from them, so I sent Mr. Faulk an update to my resume on 1/23 (it wasn't even an LOCI), explaining what I had been doing since I submitted my application in September. About five minutes after sending the email, Mr. Faulk emailed back asking me to call him. When I called, he said I was accepted, and asked if I had any questions. I asked a question that showed that I had done a bit of research, and he then offered me the full-tuition scholarship.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Haha luxxe, I got that too! The super full story is that I emailed asking if my application was still being reviewed, since I hadn't heard anything since September. The Dean emailed back saying it was, and that they would try not to keep me waiting too much longer. Then, spur-of-the moment, I decided to send him my updated work experience (I've been working abroad since September), and THEN he emailed back asking me to call him. So you never know when it will happen!!

Hey do you, or anyone, want to trade LOCI's? I'm about to crank one out whenever I get home. I don't know why, but I'm super nervous about my LOCI.crumpetsandtea wrote:Yeah, I guess I'll just buckle down and crank it out today. I won't be THAT upset if they don't take me off the WL, so I'll just whip one up and send it in. Might as well.so_fetch wrote:I would just muster up some inspiration and send it in ASAP. Esp after hearing the success story that is LaCumparsita. Just try to figure out some things you like about the school and start writing and I bet you will very soon have some good points. Maybe I am gullible (or good at convincing myself?) but by the end of writing each of my Why X essays, I felt like I really really did want to go to that school. If you already had a Why UVA, I would just paraphrase / briefly recap your previous "reasons" and reiterate how you think you are a good fit and that the school remains (since the time you wrote the Why UVA) one of your top choices. or if you do not want to say that it is "one of".. .cause they are sensitive to yield.. you could say that you can see yourself being successful as a student there, and have a lot to contribute to the community, and would be honored to join class of 2015

Waitlisted today w/ 170/3.75. Not Surprised (as I'm out of state), will try and send a LOCI in the next day or two.

Dinged RD in-state. But I'm 3.85/163, so not too bummed. Congrats to all the accepted, and good luck to the rest!

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I sent in my application last week October. Sent in a why UVA mid November. Was waitlisted last week, and wrote an e-mail to Mr. Dugas saying I am still very interested in UVA and will ride the waitlist.
Worried that an LOCI will be overkill, but since it's already a big reach, I am not risk adverse. Anyone think a LOCI sent in within the week would be too much, or maybe wait a bit longer into the cycle?

For those who are on the WL and sent in a LOCI recently... did you get a reply? I sent mine in two days ago to both deans and have heard nothing back.

Just called in, jason dugas answered. He was very nice, when I said my name he knew everything from my application by heart: my personal statement, GPA, my work history and my study abroad experience, the languages I speak... Then offered me the scholarship. yes!
I can't believe they actually read my whole application...
congrats to everyone else that got in!

Sent an email to check in the other day after submitting in early September and hearing nothing at all since. Got several emails from their office the next morning, eventually leading to an acceptance call and a scholarship offer. Pretty surprised, given how long it has been since I submitted.

Haha your story sounds really similar to mine, aperfectmap. You in particular have the numbers, but they are big on yield protection. They just want you to show a bit of interest, and you're in.

Waitlisted today. 178, 3.6 OOS didn't have very compelling reasons for "why Virginia" besides that it's a great school so not surprised. Nice to finally have a decision.

[Edited out a quote about how someone found the secret way to get into UVA once they realized that maybe posting something like that wasn't a great idea.]
This reads like you're going to send me some information on how to switch my app to priority and all my savings to safe, secure gold.
