So I got an email asking me to call, I tried to call a bunch of times but got voicemail. Left messages with when would be good to call back. Never got called back and got the WL email this morning! This isn't typical right? It's okay because I was planning on withdrawing anyway, but still. Getting that email asking me to call is supposed to mean I got in, right? Not like I didn't TRY to contact Jason.

I have to say I really wish I did not read that, it describes my situation perfectly. Here's hoping I don't get the WL e-mail. To go from thinking I'm in to being out would be awful.

IN today (e-mail to discuss my application and phone call)!! Really shocked and pleased to have gotten in - I was pretty sure I was destined for the WL, since I submitted 9/20 and hadn't heard anything since. Cordel Faulk was really lovely and great to talk to.

In at UVA! I've been emailing them back and forth since I got waitlisted and they just responded inviting me to the admitted students weekend. Super excited - sad I can't attend the ASW because I have a debate tournament though :/

Impressive waitlist wrangling. When u were WL did you follow up with an LOCI by email or snail mail, how long did they take to respond? Or did you follow up with a direct phone call?

I went to an lsac forum and talked to one of the assistant deans of admission, got her email, and proceeded to email her about once every 10 days just saying hey, anything I can do, here's my why UVA etc. I got emails back opretty quickly

Hey everyone, just thought I'd add my info since I know many are still curious about how the process is moving along.

I submitted on January 6th and got the call from Dean Faulk on January 16th. I'm still in disbelief about how fast the turnaround was, but like I mentioned in the admitted students forum, I'm pretty sure the fact that I'm a VA resident and a URM helped out. In addition I have some pretty incredible softs. I submitted a diversity statement, and I included a paragraph or so within my personal statement that answered the "Why UVA" question. Writing is my forte so I'm also confident that the creative approach I took to the PS turned out to be a plus. Before submitting, I met two of the admissions directors at a law school forum, had a brief discussion with them, and received a fee waiver. Apparently, one of them actually remembered me! Perhaps that also helped me stick out from the pile. If any of you want further information feel free to PM me.

Anyway, good luck to those waiting!

WL'ed totally expected it so I'm not really that upset especially since I've already been accepted to schools higher on my list. Good luck to everyone else and condolences to those joining me in the WL pile...

Me too and I fall in that second category mentioned in the email. I only applied to UVA in a blanket the T14 strategy, And since i have got a michigan acceptance i will withdraw from the waitlist, good luck to all.


I did not write a why UVA, I think that hurts at UVA.

Looks like a big batch all at once. Mine came at 2:17 EST for what it's worth.

I have UVA numbers and wrote a Why UVA, but I knew from the beginning that I didn't have very convincing reasons for UVA.

What are these categories mentioned in the email? Just curious, because I think I'm likely to end up on the WL too.
