I thought about that too, but unless you ranked the schools on your list, or said something indicating your feelings toward a school, I'm sure they just assume you're applying to peers/reaches etc.seahawk32 wrote:AmandaPB wrote:Maybe. I've seriously considered that. I recently had my stats posted on LSN until I realized I'm the only person on LSN who had disclosed those exact stats for this cycle.

Yeah, I’m the only person with my stats, too, at least out of the people on LSN. But I haven’t said anything about preferences, just which schools I’m applying to, where I’ve been accepted, and scholarship totals. I thought that if ad comms looked at people’s LSNs, seeing that they got into awesome schools would make them want to accept you more, unless they’re from a lower ranked school than the ones you’ve already been admitted to. I still haven’t gotten into GW either (safety school, applied the first day).maxpower430 wrote:I thought about that too, but unless you ranked the schools on your list, or said something indicating your feelings toward a school, I'm sure they just assume you're applying to peers/reaches etc.seahawk32 wrote:AmandaPB wrote:Maybe. I've always been skeptical that adcomms would go to the trouble of trying to match up dates and stats to a huge pile of applicants.AmandaPB wrote:Yeah, I’m the only person with my stats, too, at least out of the people on LSN. This cycle just seems weird. Maybe because of the big drop of LSAT takers making everyone cautious. There seem to be a lot of schools moving slower than usual and maybe soft-YPing as well by holding decisions for candidates who are unlikely to attend based on numbers. GW is definitely doing that this year.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think the schools in general are afraid of their yields because of the smaller applicant pools so they're making more calculated decisions. Accepting people this early that are likely to attend, then if they withdraw they know what their yields might end up looking like for the rest of the season.
Also, I doubt adcoms, except maybe at Cooley and the like stalk LSN. LSN is not representative of the entire applicant pool, in fact it's a small percentage of the applicant pool. So if they did that for every John Smith, they'd possibly be making decisions based on another person's profile.
Unless you disclose all your information, the school you attended, your hometown, your full name, they could never be sure that JSmith2015 is really the John Smith they have in their hands.
Unless your name is something really obscure and so is your s/n but c'mon.

Does anyone know how scholarship notifications are being given out?
If you get in but without mention of any scholarship amount, does that mean there's no chance of one or have these been coming out after acceptances?

Scholarship info is typically mentioned during the acceptance call + in the admissions packet.TennesseeBob wrote:Does anyone know how scholarship notifications are being given out?

My scholarship offer was mentioned in the phone call, but I hear they reconsider later in the cycle.

IN via phone call!
Submitted 9/23, complete 9/26. Great 'Why UVA' (imho), because I have a few really good reasons for preferring UVA. No mention of scholarship money in the phone call, alas.
If you submitted early and haven't heard back yet, don't lose hope!

Congrats! I'm glad they're at least still looking at people who submitted back in September. Looks like the big money might be over though.AntipodeanPhil wrote:IN via phone call!

I applied in mid-October, and I haven't heard anything either. I wrote what I thought was a pretty good Why UVa. My app still says complete, actually.AmandaPB wrote:Stiiiiiiiiiiillllll nothing. Applied 9/3... heading for a waitlist/rejection I presume.

I also applied beginning of September and I have had zero movement since going complete. My numbers should be close to target for UVA so I'm wondering what the deal is. (RD, out of state)

Id surely bet many MPVBDNCG are awaiting for after all those ED notifications from CCN, as those would be the main competitors with or even without money based on preferences for RD applicants. My guess is that later Dec/Jan will be more volumous, with all types of decisions.

I received my acceptance call this week (VA resident and high LSAT-lower GPA splitter) but I was outside without anything to write on, so I don't have the revisit weekend dates. Could someone post them? Thanks!

Thanks, I totally girly screamed at the director of admissions over the phone (Note, I have only done this once before in 2011. And it was when the Sherlock Holmes trailer came out).thestillpoint wrote:Congrats, that's really exciting mind sharing when you submitted?catholicgirl wrote:In December 12,

Got the call from UVA this morning. RD 10/18, OOS. 15k/yr.
I didn't technically write a Why UVA essay, but I did submit a 3 page PS, of which the last page was devoted to a specific clinic at UVA that interests me.

It's cool. I actually said "I'm shocked!" when she called me. LOL I was almost speechless. I would imagine admissions directors are used to these reactions.catholicgirl wrote:Thanks, I totally girly screamed at the director of admissions over the phone (Note, I have only done this once before in 2011. Congrats to all on your acceptances so far!
I just applied ED on the 12/7 and applied for in-state privileges, could anyone tell me how long that component of the application takes to be finalized? I would really like this 15 day expedited review period to get underway
