congrats to all those accepted. I assume this means there wont be another wave of acceptances soon?

You're not optimistic for more acceptances today? They did say "by Friday" so maybe they were just calling those whom they decided to admit after their first meeting Tuesday afternoon yesterday and still have a few more to give out today based on their Wednesday morning meeting? I realize that is somewhat irrational but...maybe?

Admitted yesterday by phone, just minutes after sending a 4 sentence email to Cordel emphasizing my continuing interest, why UVA, and that if admitted I would attend. I strongly believe that that email tipped the scales for my admission (and Cordel said as much). Good luck everyone still waiting!

My guess is that they tried to gauge the interest level of the recent admits, and are going to admit accordingly today or tomorrow OR they wait till Friday, see who pulls out, and do the whole thing over again next week.

Guys, send an email. I sent an email saying UVA is my #1 choice and I would go if admitted. I got a phone call the same day with an offer of admission.

Guys, send an email. I sent an email this morning saying UVA is my #1 choice and I would go if admitted. Not even 30 minutes later I got a phone call saying theyd like to "test out that theory" and offered me admission.

I've sent two emails like this and still nothing. I'm giving up hope. They clearly don't want me

I definitely didn't mean to imply it was sure thing if you send something, just that it definitely seems to help as he basically called me in response to my email. It wasn't a work of art or anything either, I literally just took 10 minutes and wrote 4-5 sentences about how much i like the school and why i think id be a good addition to the student body. Good luck everyone!

Who do we e-mail? Mr. Dugas, Mr. Faulk, the general law email at UVA, or all of the above?

Yeah, these poor folks probably just got 60-70 emails from the 100+ people lurking on this board... Working in an admissions office must be a funny sort of gig.

That said, I totally bandwagoned it and emailed the Directors. I'm a little stir-crazy with all this waitlist stuff... and I keep getting distracted thinking about how beautiful UVA is in the spring.

He probably made things easier for me by introducing himself as just "Cordel", but don't sweat it. It's not like what you address him as (unless it's profane) will impact your chances of getting in the school. Best of luck to everyone!

I always thought that once someone introduces him/herself with a first name all naming convention bets are off

hate to be a downer, but for the sake of not flooding dugas and faulk's mailboxes, i just want to point out that the numbers of the two who got in after emails (170/3.6 and 172/3.4) are similar to those of us who got in during the cycle. not sure why they weren't admitted with the rest of us, but admissions seems to be fixing that.

The email trick worked for me during the cycle. The email is going to work for people who have the numbers they want. Its a test to screen those people for interest. If you don't have the numbers its unlikely the email will make a big difference
