Seriously, I KNEW it was a bad idea to re-read it but I couldn't help myself. I just want to know how it's possible to read something 500x and then once it's submitted I only need to read it once to see an error. Not a good time for a moment of clarity!!

Alright it's time to move on with my life... God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change and not to flip a shit when I don't get into UVA because of a "was".

I have a feeling this is common. When I was sending in my last app, I previewed it and saw a period on my resume that wasn't supposed to be there. I doubt it's going to really affect me too much, but it wasn't good for my sanity/morale.

yeah, I noticed some mistakes like in one place, it said "lead" instead of "led" on my resume. And there were other errors too. Despite it all I got into UVA with a scholarship so I don't think it matters too much! Still, it's so annoying because I read it over so many times and still missed some small things. So frustrating!

LOL weird. I guess it's a common error then? I am hoping they read thousands of applications and won't ding me for a minute error... sighs..

Does anyone have any insights as to why UVA seems to have a disproportionate number of Supreme Court clerks each year? Of course, Yale has the highest percentage of its class clerk, but with 3 or 4 per year UVA seems to be doing quite well and better than a lot of the other T10.

Not knowing the answer to that, I suspect you are correct. For instance, looking down the lists of recent clerks you see a disproportionate, albeit still small, number of clerks from Notre Dame. While ND has the potential to pick off the occasional student who wouldn't go to any other school ranked in the low 20s b/c that ND has a curriculum that is attractive to a certain type of Catholic student, I don't think having a long tail at the upper end of the curve for reasons that are sui generis is enough to explain why they get SC clerkships. I can't see how it can't have something to do w/ the ideology of the justices.

UVA doesn't have a "rep" necessarily (though some may disagree), but it does tend to attract more ideologically conservative people than some of the other schools t-10. Some have said its a little "fratty."

Personally, I pretty middle of the road and I have no idea what type of legal ideology might attract me, so I don't put too much stake in it all, but it certainly *could* be a factor.
