I didn't hear one way or the other. Surprised they are releasing decisions so soon considering the essays were due less than 2 weeks ago. Should I be concerned that I haven't received anything? Do they notify you if you weren't chosen?AmoryB wrote:So did anyone else hear about named scholarships today besides thestillpoint?

I don't know why this would matter, but I did go there for undergrad. Perhaps that explains the faster than expected turnaround. I'm guessing quite a few more TLS'ers will hear in the next couple days.AmoryB wrote:So did anyone else hear about named scholarships today besides thestillpoint?

And thanks for the congrats everyone
Right now it's pretty much between Penn and Harvard for me, so I'm going to visit both with an open mind. Not having to take on all that debt is very appealing though!

Did you consider ED'ing? Seems like your numbers are around the typical ED they accept.meredy171 wrote: I'm stuck at 1/12 still too, do you guys mind sharing you numbers? For what it's worth I'm 169/3.7 so I'm borderline I guess

ED has a deadline. It's not like UVA. Also, no those numbers would get rejected. Need at least a 170 or a 3.8.XxMVPxX wrote:Did you consider ED'ing? Or really lucky. I'm a white conservative-ish male. I got in with a 3.4 and a 170DonnaDraper wrote:ED has a deadline. It's not like UVA. Also, no those numbers would get rejected. Also part of the 1/12 club. This is the last school I have yet to hear from and I would definitely go if I got in!

Does anyone know when Penn releases un-named scholarship information? Also, do they typically give small amounts similar to Michigan ($10k-$15k per year), or is really close to all or nothing...thanks!

My general policy is that since no one can predict the admissions process with 100% accuracy, err on the side of encouragement. There are strong trends, yes, but there are also anomalies and idiosyncrasies.
Good luck, MVP!!!

I realize I'm a real long shot but I put up my numbers out of curiosity for those with the same dates as me, not to be put up for slaughter.... ouch.DonnaDraper wrote:ED has a deadline. I am really sorry about that. I mainly responded because of the other dude who was giving you bad advice/information and I really hate when people do that. I later realized I came off pretty harsh and mean to you and that I was posting in the applications thread not an advice thread. Good luck to you and everyone waiting!

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
i've heard that Penn isn't quite as picky with LSAT for ED as it is for RD. A friend of mine told me that some non-URMS have even gotten in with scores in the 160s (they might have had really good GPAs or softs). Is this completely false?
Also, based on LSN, wouldnt a 3.7 169 (i think those are the numbers one of the previous posters were talking about) have a strong shot ED and not "no chance"?

Do we think there are going to be any calls/emails this week? Or will this be another week of silence?

It's all good. (You're probably not apologizing to me, but whatever.) Both my numbers are lower than Penn's medians, but I feel that I genuinely have something to offer Penn Law and the student body. I also think that those numbers can sometimes not be a true indicator of a person's ability, a fact that I think can come through in the personal statement and other parts of the application. So, I get a little testy when people dismiss people with lower numbers.
Okay, I'm off my high horse. Good luck everyone!

Re: Penn c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just to clarify: Penn is more lenient on ED applicants. However, if not a URM, you *must* be at least at or above one median in order to have a shot at Penn. Below both medians is the kiss of death for Penn, even for ED.
Below both medians:
http://penn.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... =3&type=jd
(169, 3.69 got straight up rejected, not even deferred/waitlisted)
At or above the LSAT median:
http://penn.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... =3&type=jd
At or above GPA median:
http://penn.lawschoolnumbers.com/applic ... =3&type=jd
meredy171: If you are willing, I'd recommend retaking the LSAT for a single point (169 --> 170), and you'll practically go from ED autoreject to ED autoadmit.
