dinged today via e-mail... not surprised.

the e-mail did reference specific things I mentioned in my essays, so that was better than nothing. good luck to everyone else!

forgive me if i've missed something - i was trying to lay low during yesterday's massacre. two questions:

1.) most people get a decision shortly after the 2nd UCR, but not everyone, and some have a 3rd UCR?

2.) it seems like neither your date nor your "batch" (other apps also processed on your date) predicts acceptance/rejection?

I haven't noticed anyone getting a 3rd UCR, other than that, 1 is correct. 2 seems correct to me.

eta: although I heard that the 3rd UCR can happen. I just don't know if I've seen it ITT.

Well yeah, it still sucks, but there's something to say for an organization that takes the time to share comments (presumably positive) about you personally when they don't owe it to you and gain nothing by doing so.

After a lot of deliberation, I've decided I'm going to do my best to ride out the waitlist. I'll do what I can to get off and hope for the best, but I've accepted that I might have to reapply next year.

I'm happy that I've been given such chances, and I wanted to wish the best of luck to those of you still waiting.

I think that's the right call, Kevinp. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so. Are you planning to submit any additional materials?

Pulling for you!

To those who are on the wait list: Keep hope alive if you want Penn. They will pull from it.
really? that's good to know... Do you know how many people Penn normally accepts off the waitlist?

From the TLS Penn Law profile:

The law school also admits a significant number of waitlisted applicants each year: 30 to 40 out of a pool of several hundred. Waitlist review begins in May, and candidates are sometimes accepted late into the summer. The committee invites waitlisted candidates to remain in contact and even submit additional materials, including extra letters of recommendation, new grades, and updated resumes.

Did anyone get the Wilson scholarship invite? It says 60k-75k, and the essay is due this Friday 2/10.

How long is your essay going to be?

So did they comment on the things they liked? I wonder if they do this to all rejections... I will almost definitely get a WL, but now I kinda want them to reject me to see what they have to say :D

Anyone else nominated for a named merit scholarship? They mention writing a "short essay" on one of three questions... any rule of thumb on how long that would be?
