Quick question...
I just received an unsolicited fee waiver from Penn (i guess based on my Dec LSAT). I haven't submitted an application, but I'm considering doing it now just for fun. Opinions on chances? I'm guessing they're slight to nonexistent...but why now send the fee waiver?

I would say apply. $16 is worth it. Also you do have somewhat of a chance because you are at their GPA median ( 3.8 ), but the fact that you are applying late will hurt you. You might as well go for it, though! :-)

Everyone on Wednesday seemed to find out they were WL through status checker, did anyone receive a waitlist email?

Yeah, you get an email, but my status checker updated a few hours before I received it.

Schools send fee waivers toward the end of the cycle like nobody's business. They do it to increase the overall number of applicants. Part of the ranking equation involves how selective a school's admissions process is. By increasing the the number of applicants, the percentage of those accepted out of the pool goes down. NYU pioneered this technique.

Still, apply. Why not? You can't argue with wasting $16 for an Ivy. And a rejection won't hurt that badly if you don't have high expectations.

+1, my GPA is below Penn's 25th%tile and I only have a median LSAT but somehow still got in. Definltey $16 is worth it, imo. This has been a funky cycle.

Has there been a "forgotten by Penn" thread in past years?
