I got in RD with a 3.79, but I don't think that's what you mean.

Looking at last year's LSN it looks like true splitters had to wait until the spring, even when they were UR in the fall. If you're over the 75 for LSAT I think you still have a good shot.

Has everyone who has been accepted thus far had two UCR updates? Or have some of you only had one?

Most have had two, but I know at least one had only one (she was ED though)

A couple of people with autoadmit numbers got in with only one update on Friday (Hawkeye, AmandaPB). I think we can say that two UR dates are not required.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, is having already had two UR dates a generally positive, negative or neutral sign?

I wouldn't say that either has autoadmit numbers. Hawkeye is median GPA, > 75th LSAT, and Amanda is > 75th GPA and median LSAT. Great numbers, but not above both 75ths.

I would say those are autoadmit numbers for Penn (over both 75ths at Penn is in at Harvard and Penn YPs heavily). Regardless, my point was that people have been accepted with a single UR date.

I sure hope so, given that I'm around median for one number and above 75 for another. Unfortunately I could absolutely see Penn YP'ing me... people with much lower LSATs but my same GPA have a much better chance getting in historically, and no school rejects proportionately more people with better numbers for me (45% for Penn, vs. 43% for Yale and Stanford, and 6% for Harvard  )

I understand your point, I just try to leave doubt where it is reasonable because people tend to freak out (e.g., "Only one update and I haven't heard anything back in 3 days! That means I'm rejected/YP'd/WL'd!")

Agreed. Penn does seem to be fickle and wary of people who they think are shooting for HYSCCN. But I think if you sold your interest in Penn in your app you should be OK (and you're going to have a great cycle regardless). I guess I meant as "autoadmit" as it gets for Penn based on numbers alone.

It's a tricky situation for MVP since people with autoadmit numbers usually have HYS numbers. I dunno if I can blame Penn's adcomms for YPing people who they think would turn down Penn with a Levy for HYS (or the applicant who takes HYS over a Levy for that matter).

For the questions about the admissions "package"

When they call you to admit you, they're talking about the letter. I got the call Friday, received the letter the following Wednesday. It's only a page, but comes in a big envelope because they include a nice glossy viewbook profiling all of the professors at the law school (with photos, resume, description of specialties for each).

It then says in the letter that the "Penn Portfolio", the package that tells you how to register for housing, pay them, live in Philly, etc. will be mailed in January.

Hope that helps!

First UR status update this morning since going complete 11/4. I'm guessing I can expect a decision sometime in early January?

Me too, I'm guessing a mid-January response, but hopefully you're right and I get pleasantly surprised.

I was complete 10/3, last UR was 11/30...172, 4.0.....is it a bad sign that I haven't heard yet?
