bump. also, would an lsat retake in june be helpful? i have a 170 and 3.7, URM. Feel like I could get the LSAT up a few points with additional practice
If you have significant changes to your app/resume, definitely send them. What is the content of the LOCI? Did you write a Why Penn already? If not, definitely send one. If it's just reiterating your interest, I don't think it will have much effect one way or the other (won't hurt but probably won't help either). Penn has been slow this cycle. 170 3.7 you should have a good shot, esp. URM.

Just going off LSN for the past few cycles, almost no one has gotten in with a 168 and a submedian GPA. Most were straight dings and the few waitlists I found were not picked up. You're considerably below both medians. I would send a LOCI and ride the WL, but I wouldn't expect much.
The above is true for the past couple of years, but if you go back to 2006 (a cycle, that in my opinion looks more like what we've seen this year) there were a couple non-URM's who got in with your number or lower.

I didn't have room on my resume to include activities and didn't include a "Why Penn" statement because it wasn't listed as an optional essay. I'm thinking of sending in an additional statement to explain how my activities qualify me for specific programs at Penn. Would it be overkill to send in 2 additional statements/should I just merge the 2? Don't want to annoy the ad comm or appear too pushy

If you didn't address Why Penn in one of the optional essays, I think you should focus your LOCI on that. Anecdotal evidence from this cycle and last suggests that showing interest in Penn specifically has helped. I would hold off on sending too much though. Penn has invited waitlisted candidates this year to send an additional essay so I would save some material for that in case you do get WLed.

Hate to dash your hopes but unless you're URM your chances are pretty much nil.
Nah I definitely appreciate the honesty. Where did you find this? I'd love to read more. I was pretty excited about the waitlist.

Nelson doesn't cite sources. He just uses his vast stores of pretentiousness to tell other people they're not good enough.

Ignore him. You have a shot! This year has been unusual, with so many fewer applicants. They'll get to May and look at how many people they have, and I predict that they will pull quite a few from the waitlist. Send a LOCI and keep checking back. If this is something you really want, you have nothing to lose! Don 't let anyone else tell you otherwise!
Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. I mean, they waitlisted me for a reason, right? If I had absolutely no shot, why not just reject me? Ill definitely stay on top of it and thanks to everyone else for the feedback. I don't think a retake is really in the cards, but ill just do my best to let them know I'm interested and ride it out!

Ohh, good to know. Would anyone on here mind reading my LOCI? If so, please PM me. I would be happy to look at yours in return! Thanks so much in advance:)

Yeah, I'm sorry if that came out a bit harsh. I was really offended by something he said in another thread where he told someone with almost the exact same stats as me that they had no chance. I've already been admitted, and I'm not a URM, so if I can get in there's hope for others below either median.

What I'm trying to say is if you're close, and you really want it, try it. There's no such thing as having "zero chance" . And we should all be supportive of others who are going through what we all know is an incredibly stressful time.

I'm glad to know that, in the city known as the birthplace of America, on President's Day, the admissions committee of UPenn is laboring away with our applications instead of taking the weekend off like most other people in the country. That being said, I'm still UCR 1/27 :/

Just went UCR on 2/17. [insert game face]

ETA: The correct date. That was indeed a multi-tasking fail. :)

Went under review on 2/17! 165/3.8/half AA female, freaking out right about now. I used my diversity statement for my optional essay. Should I send in a Why Penn now despite that "Why Penn" isn't listed as an optional essay topic? Alternatively, I could write about how another aspect of my background (work experience) fits with Penn Law. Any/all feedback would be greatly appreciated! I'm thinking of writing the essay tonight and emailing it first thing tomorrow

I have half a mind to walk into my classes this week without having done any of the assignments because, in my universe, it's still January 27th and nothing is due yet. Think it'll work?
